Summary ABOUT THE POSITION: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. You may need to complete a 3 year probationary period, if applicable. This position is with 7th Signal Command, 21st Signal Brigade, 56th Signal Battalion, located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Responsibilities Screen calls and greets visitors to the office of the Commander, CSM, and CXO and ascertains nature of call or business. Serve as office manager and primary administrative person with a staff consisting of both military and civilian personnel. Make all travel arrangements for the CDR, CSM, and CXO, who travel extensively across CONUS. Review all incoming correspondence, determining proper action, and at times preparing answers before referring to the appropriate staff. Transmit, receive, and acknowledge electronic mail and messages. Anticipate need for information and systematically prepare or summarizes background material for manager. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one year specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by experience working with different computer programs to prepare a variety of letters, messages, memoranda, reports, or charts; assisting with providing completed travel itineraries, or revising travel arrangements for management; and aiding in gathering articles, photos, or other content for the creation of post for a variety of social media outlets. OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in office administration, business administration, or communications; OR A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
