Job Description

CHEP are currently recruiting in Durban, South Africa. The team is looking for an experienced Manager: Accounting - Finance to join and make an impact. This role reports to the Senior Manager: Accounting IMETA. The role offers a Hybrid working model with working from both our Westville Office & home.

You will be responsible for:

The production of periodic financial reports and maintenance of accounting records, processes and systems to support the accuracy of financial results in compliance with IFRS and local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

The role also manages 4 out of 8 financial accounting sub-processes across the IMETA region

Minimum Requirements:

Relevant Finance/Accounting DegreeEssential: Certified Accountant (CA (SA) / CPA / ACCA/ AGA/ SAIPA / CIMA)Experience managing teams in a public company or foreign listed company. Multinational environment reporting required.IFRS experience requiredExperience and ability to analyse and understand complex accounting transactions and processesAbility and demonstrated experience in making sound decisionsAbility and experience in identifying risks and errors through analytical P&L and Balance sheet reviewsExperience communicating with and influencing functional headsPrevious experience working within or alongside a ‘back office’ shared service environmentSAP FI and CO experience (Advantageous)

Regional Accounting responsibilities

Manage and direct the end-to-end Record to Report / Financial Accounting processes for the regions within area of responsibilityResponsible for ensuring the balance sheet and profit and loss are accurately reported and represent a true and fair view of the business results. Act as point of contact for business stakeholders, and provide direct support to regional Finance Business Partners.Provide clear guidance and insight to Supply Chain, Commercial and SC Finance and FP&A teams on cost allocations in SAP and impact on metrics and reporting as well as driving query resolution in these areasAct as escalation point for Supply Chain and Commercial Finance teams.Contribute to the Budget and Forecast processes within area of responsibility.Ensure Annual Financial Statements and statutory audits are prepared within deadlines

IMETA-wide Accounting responsibilities

Responsible for oversight of 4 of the following IMETA financial accounting sub-processes:SAP Lease Module accounting.BRACS Reporting system, ensuring accurate submission of monthly actual financial data, including statutory disclosures, as well as Controlling (CO) module in SAP, including maintenance of cost centres, hierarchies, allocation keys, monthly CO processes and assessment cycles (cost allocations).Payroll AccountingGRNI Accounting and clearingBlackline Balance Sheet reconciliation process, ensuring compliance with Group policy and reduction of RiskFixed Asset AccountingIntercompany processes across the IMETA region.Thomson Reuters Annual Financial Statement preparation processesApprover for “Controllership” in respect of Authority matrix for journal entries, sundry & out of tolerance invoices, release of vendor payments from banking platforms and other vendor related activities.Support the Senior Manager, Accounting, IMETA in day to day activities in all areas of accounting across both regions as required.Provide back up to other Accounting Manager/s within the Financial Accounting team.Transformation & Standardisation: Drive process improvement in area of responsibility to best practice, as well as standardisation with other Brambles regions.Ensure the application of accounting standards and practices in accordance with IFRS, local accounting standards and group policies.Pro-actively work with the 3rd Party Provider for the outsourced Record to Report activities to ensure accurate and quality results can be delivered. 

Other Reporting

Contribute to the relevant sections of the 6-monthly Balance Sheet review presentations, and present those sections within area of responsibilityResponsible for the hyperinflation accounting for entities within area of responsibility, including Actuals, Budget and Forecasts

People and Leadership

Attract, retain and develop team members by providing regular feedback, coaching and training to support identified capability and technical competency needs.
