Job Description:

As Systems Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for hardware and software requirements definition, decomposition, allocation, management, verification, and validation of technical products and systems.  You will also be responsible for conducting component trade studies, performing system integration, and characterizing system performance. Approximately 10% of your time will be spent as a front-line, functional manager responsible for staffing, resource allocation, performance assessment, and staff career development.

The Agile Development Group (ADG) specializes in developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV), advanced radar systems, next-generation weapon systems, and other RF sensor technologies.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for requirements definition, flow-down and traceability for complex electronic systems embracing agile product systems and software development and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) processes to enhance development speed and quality; Leads the execution of rapid learning cycles in requirements development, design, build, integration & test and verification & validation in a design-to-cost and design-for-manufacturability environmentDevelop, track and present technical performance metricsDevelop, coach, and motivate systems engineers to peak performanceManage systems engineering resources to meet program needs through allocation of available personnel or hiring new personnelManage a group of Systems Engineering staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, planning and training employees.  Coach, counseling, monitor, and appraise staff performance.Help perform risk assessment and develop mitigation strategies for complex projectsLead system integration and engineering test effortsDevelops or champions new systems, concepts, or technologies. Responsible for improving upon existing Systems Engineering processesSystem design synthesis of complex electronic systems to include processes and interfaces in testingPerform trade studies on a variety of systems and componentsPerform design verification testing efforts including lab, chamber, ground and flight testAnalyze data from design verification test effortsDevelop and run simulations and other analysis tools to predict system performance in various environmentsPresent results during internal and external program meetingsParticipate in proposal activities both cost and technicalObtain and maintain any additional clearances as required Lifting up to 20 lbsUp to 10% travelOther duties as required

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.Active DoD Secret security clearanceSystem level design experience in which the applicant has been involved in the design and integration of complex hardware/software systems, the definition of multiple interfaces and been involved in the trades of multiple solution optionsHands-on experience being involved in system integration, engineering testing, and system performance characterization

Preferred Additional Skills:

Experience with and an understanding of aerospace systems, especially in the development of integrated hardware/software productsExperience integrating typical payloads like sensors or communications into air vehiclesSystems Engineering functional management experienceExperience leading a team to complete assigned program taskingExperience with Model Based Systems Engineering Experience with Matlab, LabView, Python, or C/C++/C#Experience in Control Account Management as part of an Earned Value Management SystemExperience in unmanned aircraft or guided weapon systemsExperience with proposal development including generating basis of estimatesExperience in development of use cases developed from customer objectives and concepts of operations Excellent people skills, with experience leading and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation)Experience using Microsoft Office products
