What You'll Get To Do: Manager, Battery Public Policy will be a key member of the Government and Public Affairs team, monitoring, developing strategy and lobbying on battery policy at the federal and state levels. This will include a focus on electric vehicles (EVs), EV battery manufacturing, and transportation electrification and coordination with other GPA team members. Support Government and Public Affairs on all lobbying, advocacy, regulatory and public policy strategies related to the EV battery business in North America. Work closely with other GPA team members to ensure coordination across various portfolios, including counterparts in Japan. Closely coordinate, get direction on strategy, and regularly update PNA and Battery Business. Ensure coordination with other battery and automotive related businesses in Panasonic (PIDSA, PASA, SMO) to leverage scale and avoid conflicts. Manage regulatory strategy for battery policy in close coordination with PEXNA environment and quality teams. Coordinate and draft Panasonic feedback on relevant regulation, including technical language. Represent Panasonic EV battery interests in relevant trade associations at the manager level to advance priorities. These include ZETA, Auto Innovators, Autos Drive America, MEMA, PRBA, and others. Engage with political consultants to advance Panasonic battery policy priorities. Scope: Hybrid work environment – 3 days/week in office No direct reports, but work closely with other GPA staff and business unit representatives Travel (1 international, and up to 4 domestic trips per month) Qualifications What You'll Bring: Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree is required, Master’s preferred 5+ years of experience in Washington, DC (Congress, Executive Branch, or related corporate or trade association federal affairs experience) with a focus on energy and EV battery policy and critical minerals Familiarity with House and Senate legislative processes, federal rulemaking, and political context Competencies: Nimble – Ability to work within a complex, global company (Government Affairs team, U.S. battery business, Panasonic Energy counterparts, and other functions including legal, operations, tax, and other business units). Collaborative – Ability to work as a team on shared issues Flexible - Ability to be flexible and take on assignments not directly related to portfolio Communications: Strong communication and interpersonal skills – particularly writing and public speaking Persuasive – Ability to build strong relationships, analyze complex issues, and be persuasive Other Requirements: Position is based in Washington, DC Ability to travel and represent company in public forums Ability to manage other duties as assigned Benefits & Perks - What's In It For You: Panasonic prioritizes total wellbeing. The wage range of $148,000 - $160,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. Actual compensation varies depending on the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives. *The minimum hourly wage for this role will be the greater of the posted range, or minimum wage for the location where the employee will be working, subject to local minimum wage requirements.
