Manager, Building Services - Plant Services - Full Time

Position Summary: 

Provide daily oversight of the day to day Plant Operations of the Facilities Department, shuttle bus system and off site areas, Big Flats/Rentals.  This position requires a specialized knowledge of hospital facilities, grounds and systems such as, carpentry, grounds keeping, Power Plant Operations, painting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and mechanical repairs. Provide daily oversight of the day‐to‐day Plant Operations of the Facilities Department, shuttle bus system and off site areas, Big Flats/Rentals.  This position requires a specialized knowledge of hospital facilities, grounds, and systems such as, carpentry, grounds keeping, Power Plant Operations, painting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and mechanical repairs. Provide building maintenance services on a variety of technologies through equipment planning, maintenance management, preventative maintenance, equipment troubleshooting and repair, vendor management, periodical review and detailed written and computer documentation while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory guidelines and company policies and procedures. Establish and maintain harmonious working relationships within the department while promoting and adhering to all Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital policies and practices, mission, vision, and values. Must recognize responsibility as an agent of Robert Packer Hospital and, in all matters, act accordingly. Meet or exceed the reasonable expectations of all customers and coworkers as defined and communicated by Robert Packer Hospital through multidisciplinary communication, coordination, and documentation.  Must remain flexible in all aspects of work‐related actions.

Education, License & Cert: 

High school diploma/GED and 2 year degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience: 

Required: 1. Four years of trade school or 10 years comparable related experience in building trades/maintenance, in a healthcare setting, and must have included architectural and structural work and/or mechanical, electrical, plumbing repair and maintenance work. 2. Must have knowledge of all applicable OSHA standards, Joint Commission and other regulatory and compliance standards that may apply. 3. Basic computer skills, such as Microsoft Office. 4. Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred: 1. Courses in blueprint reading, mechanical drawing, engineering related mathematics, carpentry and woodworking, electrical and plumbing. 2. Experience operating high and low‐pressure boilers for steam generation and experience operating medium voltage electric power generators.

Essential Functions:

1. Make recommendations to Sr. Director for personnel actions including hiring, training, safety sessions, performance evaluations and discipline.  Responsible to prioritize plan, assign, motivate, supervise and evaluate the work of facilities staff. 

2. Analyzes and describes specific maintenance problems and/or recommends or performs suitable corrective action with effective utilization of available resources, and facilities personnel. This includes contractors and vendors as needed. 

3. Establishes and maintains effective work relationships with those contacted through the course of work and demonstrates an ability to function successfully in a team environment. 

4. Supervises and participates by performing a variety of other semi‐skilled and skilled work projects with personnel including, but not limited to, multiple‐trade contractors to achieve overall project goals for the completion of both scheduled and unscheduled work orders and emergency service.

5. Coordinate and monitor requests for proposals/bids as necessary. 

6. Provide additional support to management and special construction projects as assigned.

7. Identifies system failures and troubleshoots equipment in detail.

8. Reads and interprets blueprints and / or models. 

9. Accept responsibility for continuous quality improvement and cost management.

11. Oversees and manages the Sayre campus shuttle operations.

Other Duties: 

1. Serves as a member of the fire response team.

2. Assists in removing snow from facilities grounds and maintains grounds as required, or other work area coverage as needed.

3. Assists with department‐wide projects and/or responsibilities.
