Job Overview:
The Director of Business Development is responsible for driving and coordinating the business development efforts within the hospital and in offsite community based settings. S/He is responsible for achieving department growth goals through business development efforts and facilitation of the contract process between the Physician and Administrative leadership with the RWJBH contracting and recruitment team. S/He is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Physician Liaison staff and collaborating with internal partners to monitor and maximize referrals into and within the hospital s continuum of services.

Strategic planning; sets and manages goals for business development and growthMeets with senior management, medical staff, operational managers and other stakeholders to assess current state of businessActs as the liaison to the RWJBH Recruitment/Contracting team for an efficient collaboration with the physician and administrative leaders to facilitate complete documentation to physician contracting for new physician arrangements and physician contract renewals.Participates in weekly contracting meetings.Responsible for coordinating an agenda for the weekly Business Development committee meeting.Works with data analyst to organize internal and external data to evaluate market penetration; provides recommendations for growth goals by service line; identifies resources and develops tactical Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in the healthcare industry; recommends adjustments to strategy or tactics to leverage new opportunitiesCommunicates market changes and strategic opportunities to the Chief Administrative Officer.Prepares and completes presentations to senior management as requestedManages staff of physician liaisonsWorks with Physician Liaison Lead to in reviewing a staffing analysis on an annual basis to ensure the optimal number of physician liaisons based on market opportunity and projected ROIRecruits and selects Liaisons according to the defined behavioral competency modelCoordinates on-boarding and ongoing training and personal development plans for each direct reportDevelops individual goals aligned with the overall growth goals of the department. Determines sales activities required to achieve goals. Continuously monitors individual performance to plan, providing performance coaching on a regular basisEvaluates performance in accordance with the defined performance evaluation systemTakes disciplinary action as necessary after addressing areas of concern professionally/respectfullyMaintains incentive, reward, and recognition systems to recognize achievements and accurately and fairly reward for production on a timely basisDevelops approaches to communicate with referral sources to facilitate patient referrals in a professional and impactful mannerInteracts with staff to improve communication and to increase understanding of the referring physicians needs and expectationsCoaches staff on pre-call planning to plan strategies and objective for physician meetings. Attends meeting periodically to provide curb side coaching to LiaisonsCoaches Physician Liaisons to accurately assess the functional and emotional needs of a referring customer in order to develop and communicate a targeted value propositionCoaches staff in the effective use collateral material as appropriate to support the messageDevelops and communicates criteria for prioritizing customer groups based on opportunity for growth in referral businessManages the day-to-day, week-to-week, month-to-month activities of the Physician Liaisons to consistently meet or exceed established volume/revenue goalsBenefits and Perks:
