**Manager, Business Development**
This position is responsible for identifying, prospecting, leading due diligence and negotiations of thermal and renewable generations assets. This includes responsibilities for the overall scope of the acquisition deal teams, including relationship building, prospecting, identification, and prioritization of profitable business opportunities. Additional responsibilities include allocating resources among competing priorities, leadership of the acquisition processes, and leadership of contract negotiations related to specific business opportunities. This position will be required to present to the SPC Management Council. This is a management position that may manage a business development analyst and their support teams encompassing resources from across Southern Power.
**JOB REQUIREMENTS:**
Education
+ Bachelor’s Degree required, Business, Engineering, Finance or Economics preferred.
+ Master’s degree not required but is a plus.
Experience
+ This is a leadership position with strategic and tactical responsibilities as well as performance management responsibilities for a business development associate.
+ Ideal candidate will possess experience in the energy industry specifically regarding mergers and acquisitions, asset acquisitions, power origination, development of energy projects, or other similar background.
+ Proficient knowledge of wholesale project financials, business cases and valuation analysis.
+ 2-3 years of experience in power purchase agreements or other offtake contract negotiations is preferred.
+ Proven ability to think competitively in acquisition efforts.
+ Ability to manage multiple acquisition projects effectively with competing priorities.
**MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Manage direct staff and support teams in identification, prospecting, due diligence and negotiations of thermal and renewable generations assets.
+ Build relationships with external counterparties in pursuit of opportunities
+ Extensive travel for conferences, business development with customers and acquisition diligence and negotiations
+ Coordinate with peer managers of support teams
+ Prioritize multiple opportunities with competing resource needs
+ Participate in strategy development and tactical planning
+ Present/represent opportunities to SPC management, as needed
