SUMMARY

Upon completion of formal onboarding, the Manager, Business Operations will participate in an orientation period not to exceed 90 days, with initial duty at EMCOR Corporate Headquarters in Norwalk, CT, and at the EMCOR Construction Services Headquarters in McLean, VA.  This is in preparation for follow-on assignment to Operating Companies in the Washington, DC metropolitan area for up to one year for immersive familiarization training in construction operations.  Key focus areas will include but are not limited to:  bidding and estimating, engineering and design, virtual design & construction, pre-fabrication, safety, field execution, and project management.  After this training period, the Manager’s role will be reviewed for expanded responsibilities. The weekly, monthly, and quarterly routine consists of reviewing weekly bid reports, monthly WIP’s, and other financial statements and visits to project sites. The Manager actively communicates up and down the organizational chain about observed risks and opportunities that will keep the business aligned with EMCOR’s core values and mission objectives. The Manager is expected to demonstrate the EMCOR leader philosophy that – when material problems begin to surface - our executives are “wheels-up” and laser focused until the situation is brought under control.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Shadow ECS HQ Segment leaders, and learn about the business during the first few months to a year of employment; Mission First, People Visit subsidiary’s major projects to build relationships with leadership and develop an understanding of project profitability as appropriate. Ensure ECS VP of Electrical Operations is apprised of any high risk scenarios across assigned OpCos. Become familiar with OpCo high-level accounting concepts to support profitability and identify any areas of Review weekly bid opportunities with an eye toward correct pricing, eliminating undue risk and maximizing opportunity. Observe operating company WIP meetings, review WIPs on a monthly basis, and provide feedback to company Review all financial statements, especially cash. Collaborate with Purchasing to source and evaluate vendors/manufacturers to meet specification requirements. Develops an understanding of contract requirements and project schedules to enable proper equipment warranty cost coverage during estimating and final buyout. Mentor on topics such as leadership, succession planning, process and procedure, project management, safety, Conduct quarterly deep dives and operating company summary narratives for Electrical VP of Operations. Complete and submit expense reports and make own travel Visit ECS segment office periodically to build segment knowledge and relationships, as well as when legal, financial, HR, and IT circumstances are addressed with in-person meetings. Participate in Peer Group or upcoming Meeting or Conference within EMCOR Construction. Support ECS Electrical VP of Operations with other projects as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction or related areas of study; or commensurate progressive experience in managing and leading both small- and large-scale construction projects and people. Experience must include:

Managing large scale budgets; Responsibilities for multiple operations over a large domestic geographic area; Proven track record of effectively growing operations while maintaining a commitment to Ethics and Safety
