Burlington is hiring a Manager, Capital Projects to join our growing team!  This role is instrumental in managing large-scale fixture and graphic capital projects, including Downsizes/Remodels, fixture deployment, and special projects. You will take a proactive approach to planning and executing precise project timelines, collaborating closely with internal departments, external vendors, Store Planning, Merchandising, and Store Operations to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

 

In this role, you will work with the Director of Capital Projects and Vice President to identify projects, develop plans, create schedules, prepare budgets, and oversee execution. You will be responsible for managing installations, ensuring all work aligns with contract terms, budget parameters, and project timelines. Additionally, you will collaborate with Finance, the Director of Project Planning, and department leadership to maintain accurate project budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, including weekly, monthly, and quarterly updates. A key focus of this role is to streamline processes for project approvals, enhance cost-efficiency, and continuously explore new methods to drive profit improvement while maintaining a positive experience for both customers and associates.

 

A Day in the Life:

Perform all aspects of Project Management for Facilities projects 

Vet project requests and develop accurate scope of work and associated project plans Provide budgets/cost estimates for approval Manage two Store Install Specialists in the execution of assigned projects  Collaborate with partners in Procurement to assign bidders and manage bid processes Review bids and choose installation vendor Conduct kickoff meetings/calls with all stakeholders Manage contractors/vendors throughout execution of project Communicate with Stores and Field Management before, during and after projects to ensure satisfaction Work closely with partners in Store Planning, Project Planning, Fixture Purchasing, Store Design, and Merchandising when planning and executing projects Propose and implement process improvements Provide weekly and monthly updates to department Director and Vice President Proactively communicate and propose solutions for order, delivery, installation and staffing challenges 

Financial Management 

Develop and manage project budgets, and execute projects to ensure budgets are met  Manage change order process to minimize change orders Provide monthly budget and forecast updates to department Director and Vice President Collaborate with department Director and partners in FP&A to update monthly budgets and forecasts 

 

You’ll Come With:

5+ years’ project management experienceExcellent oral and written communication skills, organization and follow-up skills. Ability to balance and prioritize competing demands. A successful candidate must possess a strong sense of urgency.   Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.   In-depth project management skillsProficient in Microsoft Word and ExcelFinancial acumenAbility to multi-tasAbility to lift 10 lbsTravel requirements 10-20%
