Reporting to the Senior Manager, Ontario Commercial Services Finance, this position is responsible for providing financial analysis and support for Commercial Services Ontario financial reporting, regulatory requirements and operational decision making.

 

The ideal candidate should possess natural leadership traits and confidence to foster a climate of trust and mutual respect with internal and external stakeholders. Success in this role requires strong expertise in financial reporting and hands-on experience with International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) standards, disclosure requirements and regulations.

 

What you’d be responsible for

 

Preparing all aspects of accurate and reliable monthly and quarterly financial reporting for the Ontario portfolio.Providing support to operational personnel on an ongoing and adhoc basis, including variance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.Coaching and mentoring of front-line staff, with a focus on developing skill sets and encouraging professional development.Providing key inputs towards developing operational plans and direction for the Ontario Commercial Services Finance function..Identifying clear budget requirements to facilitate the design of superior quantitative models and results.Communicating financial analysis methodology, complex financial information and recommendations to senior management, regulatory and other internal or external parties.Leading the development of processes for IFRS and regulatory reporting and the tracking and reporting of various deferral and variance accounts.  Developing, implementing and reviewing Ontario Commercial Services Finance processes to ensure compliance to policies, standards, regulatory requirements and ensure mitigation of risks.Providing financial models and analytics and related services to support the Ontario Commercial Services on an ad hoc basis.

 

What’s required to be successful

 

A Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in Business, Finance or Accounting from a recognized post-secondary educational institutionRelevant Professional designation such as a CPA is required.Experience that includes: 7+ years in progressively responsible accounting roles2+ years of supervisory experience for utility companies or regulated industry is required.Strong financial acumen with demonstrable ability to oversee and deliver all cycle accounting requirements and financial elements of IFRS accounting practices and policies and regulatory filing. Proven knowledge and understanding of financial accounting/reporting.Demonstrable ability to apply relevant knowledge and technical skills towards monitoring the adherence to financial accounting practices, policies and accounting standards.Demonstrable capability to apply the relevant knowledge and technical skills to provide operations management with relevant financial analysis and input.Adept use of Microsoft office suite applications such as MS Excel for financial modelling as well as Oracle ERP financial modules and other related systems The following experiences would be considered an asset: Prior exposure to regulated Natural Gas operationsUnderstanding of EPCOR Financial ProcessesExcellent leadership and communication skills in engaging key stakeholders and managing large teams in a unionized environment.Ability to drive continuous improvement, innovation and change in optimizing financial analysis processes and ensure operational excellence.
