Position Description:

Fortive is seeking a motivated and customer focused accounting professional to oversee key areas of our corporate accounting and reporting processes and drive system and process improvements.  The position provides involvement in accounting, reporting, and financial analysis at corporate and with our operating companies.   Career progression opportunities exist within the Corporate finance group as well as within the finance groups of our OpCos.

Candidate Profile and Responsibilities:

Ownership of processes and key accounting controls surrounding equity compensation, pension, and deferred compensation (prior experience in these areas is helpful but not necessary).  Support Operating companies in documenting and executing related controls.  Complete month, quarter and year-end close procedures including journal entry preparation and account reconciliations for general accounting and benefits accounting. Collaborate with technical accounting team to address new accounting standards or corporate transactions.  Create and maintain supporting schedules, disclosures, and analytics for quarterly and yearly SEC reporting.  Maintain forecast for assigned accounts and cost centers and communicate variances to management as needed.   Support operating company and corporate budget processes for assigned areas.  Identify areas for process improvement and implement such ideas.    Other projects such as acquisition integration support as needed. 

Qualifications

Our successful candidate will be intellectually curious and highly motivated, with an ability to effectively collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams and manage multiple priorities at a time.  It is important that our candidate demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to work with people at multiple levels of our organization, including the senior members of the finance and HR teams and in Operating Companies.  To be a good fit for this opportunity, you will also have/be:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA a plus  Minimum 5 years of accounting or audit experience  Demonstrated experience executing and streamlining accounting processes with a hands-on approach. Detail-oriented with the objective of consistently delivering high quality work product, while maintaining an understanding of the bigger picture Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and support practical solutions Operate in a way that never compromises ethics and integrity Able to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a high-energy, dynamic environment A hands-on and can-do approach with a desire to continue learning and developing Proficiency with large ERP systems, reporting tools (OneStream preferred), Excel, and business analytics/process automation tools.
