JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Responsible for Entergy Corporation (parent company) and Entergy Consolidated financial reporting, internal financial reporting, and support of SEC filings and financial reports and information necessary to support financial transactions, in accordance with GAAP, SEC, and FERC Uniform System of Accounts requirements.  Also responsible for communicating financial reporting results, matters, issues, and advice to the Chief Accounting Officer and other Finance leaders.  Responsible for preparation of financial presentations and analysis at the Entergy Consolidated or segment reporting level, including Investor Relations materials and Audit Committee materials.

 

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Participate in monthly pre-close meetings to gain awareness of potential upcoming transactions.  Review and prepare monthly closing journal entries.  Actively communicate status and issues with the Accounting Lead Team and General Ledger team throughout the monthly close process.  Coordinate final monthly close status with the General Ledger and Tax teams. Analyze and present Entergy Consolidated monthly financial results to the Accounting lead team throughout the monthly Accounting close process.  Communicate monthly financial results to the CEO and CFO. Prepare quarterly Entergy Consolidated financial statements for Form 10-K/10-Q and earnings calls.  Prepare various quarterly reports and analysis, including significant items schedule, quarterly Audit Committee Earnings Summary report, and Investor Relations earnings release materials in support of the earnings calls. Responsible for Entergy Corporation parent company accounting matters, including segment reporting issues and internal transactions/mergers/dissolutions and the related journal entries and reporting. Maintain PeopleSoft Consolidation Process, including creating and maintaining elimination rules for the elimination of affiliate transactions, creating and maintaining equitization rules for parent and subsidiary equity in earnings transactions, and creating and maintaining Peoplesoft allocation rules that govern certain balance sheet reclassifications. Maintain Cognos Financial Statement Reporting, including providing financial statement line-item location for accounts, creating and maintaining Business Unit Line of Business reporting, and performing reasonableness testing on consolidated financials. Prepare Entergy cash flow statement and analysis of cash flow results, identifying manual adjustments as necessary for proper presentation. Assist in providing strategic financial leadership to develop, monitor and report on Entergy’s financial performance and plan, including providing recommendations on risks and opportunities.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience. MBA or advanced Accounting degree preferred.

 

Minimum experience required of the position

10+ years financial reporting, accounting, or related experience, with financial leadership roles desired. SEC reporting and Utility accounting experience preferred.

 

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

Technical knowledge of GAAP, FERC and regulatory requirements. Knowledge of Entergy and its accounting functions and PeopleSoft and Cognos financial reporting. Expert knowledge of cash flow statement preparation and analysis.  Experience and proven ability to communicate orally and in writing in various forums, including to senior levels of management and to third parties.   Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify problems, trends, and reasonableness of results, and identify/recommend possible solutions to issues.   Highly organized and results oriented with ability to supervise others and manage multiple and frequently changing priorities and deadlines.  Ability to establish strong working relationships and coordinate with other departments/functions. Incorporates the perspectives of all stakeholders. Committed to continuous learning/improvement in diversity, inclusion, and cultural competence. Seeks and utilizes feedback from diverse sources.
