About the Role
As a Manager, Creative with WGU, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute messaging strategies, oversee creative development, and lead a high-performing team to deliver innovative campaigns aligned with strategic objectives. Key responsibilities include providing clear and constructive feedback, managing workloads through Workfront, and aligning resources with the marketing calendar. The role also emphasizes building strong partnerships across teams, maintaining brand standards, and fostering team development through coaching and feedback.
What You Will Do
Function as a gatekeeper for the University’s voice and visual identity across all marketing assets.
Maintain a high level of understanding of legal standards, the voice and visual identity of the university, schools and programs, different marketing channels and media types and how they are utilized, and the different audiences.
Collaborate with partners across Marketing and other organizations to execute brand and messaging strategies on behalf of the business lines they represent.
Lead a team in translating creative briefs into innovative, actionable messaging that meets target objectives.
Hire, develop, and inspire a high performing team.
Responsible for guiding direct reports and providing clear, honest, constructive real-time feedback to hone team skills and build capabilities.
Must be able to objectively review creative for accuracy, voice and visual identity consistency, brand standards, and to ensure project objectives are met based on the creative brief.
Must be comfortable providing clear and constructive feedback across the team.
Assign and review tickets in Workfront, a project management system.
Track and monitor team workload and bandwidth to maintain even distribution of work and projects across the team.
Assign projects based on project alignment and skills.
Maintain awareness of the marketing calendar and plan resources accordingly.
Establish and maintain a highly collaborative and functional partnership with other discipline leads, team members, and external stakeholders.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities You'll Need to Be Successful
Deep creative development experience, including end-to-end campaign design across multiple channels, bringing copy, design, and production together to develop a polished final product.
Knowledge of best practices for utilizing technology.
Must be able to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing with staff at all levels of the university.
Must be a strong communicator and be willing to meet regularly with teams and individuals as needed. Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
Comfort directing others in executing on a creative brief, analyzing work, and providing clear and constructive feedback.
Exceptional project management and organization skills. working directly with project managers and producers

Required Education & Experiene
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
5 or more years of related experience, preferably in agency, in-house creative, or higher education roles.
1 or more years of direct people leadership
Knowledge of marketing best practices across channels
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in related field.
Industry experience in higher education and/or areas relevant to the University’s colleges (e.g., business, healthcare, K12 education, IT)
Experience in lieu of education
An equivalent combination of training, experience, credentials, or accomplishments demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of this job may substitute for education degree requirements.
