Manager, Data Governance Heightened Standards Management

Webster Bank is looking for someone to join the Data Governance team to cultivate, promote, and enhance our Data Governance program. In this position you will be working with various business owners, data consumers, and data architects to perform heightened standards assessments on the procedures for risk data reporting. Additionally, the DG Heightened Standards Manager will provide suggestions to raise procedures and practices to heightened standards guidelines. 

Key responsibilities for the role:

Identify business data related risks, brainstorm data risk mitigation strategies, and assist in design of controls.

Work with business teams across the bank for data related documentation, including data controls documentation, schematics, authoritative data sourcing and related governance, connectors, metrics, policy/ standards, etc.

Review documentation and artifacts to assess gaps and defects in compliance with internal policies/ standards and Supervisory expectations. Develop and report metrics for visibility to leadership.

Drive and support DG policy adherence across the organization.

Perform assessment on risk data reporting procedures with consideration of risk and reporting controls.

Assist in the Development of remediation action plans with measurable objectives with various business lines.

Articulate assessment findings and suggestions verbally and through written communications.

Collaborate with data owners, subject area data experts and business owners to foster adherence and understanding of Heightened Standards guidelines

Key skills/experience qualifications for the role:

Bachelor’s degree required

Minimum of 3 years experience in Finance, Credit and/or Risk operations

Expertise in risk and controls environments

Working knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint

Data warehouse knowledge/experience

Strong knowledge and understanding of business data governance principles.

Strong and effective verbal and written communication, along with collaboration skills are crucial for working with across different teams and departments.

Strong knowledge and exposure to financial institutions’ regulations and compliance environments from a business perspective.

Ability to convey complex data related risks in a clear and understandable way is important to success.

Analytical and critical thinking skills to understand new processes and identify potential risks.

Willingness to learn, adapt, and be flexible in a maturing environment. Accepting of mentorship and coaching.

Be comfortable in presenting to senior business leaders the outcome of critical metrics related to data risks and data controls environment.

Preferred background in Internal Audit, 1LOD or 2LOD risk functions experience and from a Tier 4 or higher financial institution.

The estimated salary range for this position is $115,000USD to $135,000USD. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
