Who We're Looking For

Toyota Financial Services (TFS) seeks a dynamic and experienced Data Science Manager to drive data-driven innovation across our organization.

The role offers the opportunity to lead strategic data science initiatives across multiple business domains, including Sales and Marketing, Credit Risk, Residual Value, Customer Management and Collections, Insurance. As an ideal candidate, you'll combine hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership abilities to guide both project outcomes and team development.

What you’ll be doing

Technical Leadership:

Spearhead the development of sophisticated predictive and prescriptive models that drive business valueEstablish and maintain data science best practices, methodologies, and quality standardsDesign and implement scalable data pipelines for extracting, transforming, and analyzing complex datasetsTranslate analytical insights into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leadershipRegularly participate in code review and hold a high bar for code quality.

Team Management:

Build and mentor a high-performing team of data scientists, fostering their professional growth and technical capabilitiesBalance hands-on model development with strategic team leadershipDrive project execution through both direct reports and cross-functional project teams

Business Partnership:

Partner with business leaders to identify high-impact opportunities for data science applicationsPresent complex analytical findings to stakeholders at all levels of the organizationDevelop and execute data science strategies that align with TFS's business objectivesLead the evaluation and adoption of emerging data science technologies and methodologies

What you bring

Education & Experience

Master's degree or higher in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related quantitative fieldAt least 5 years of progressive experience in applied data science and analyticsDemonstrated experience leading and mentoring junior data scientists and analystsTrack record of successfully delivering complex data science projects in a business environment

Technical Expertise

Strong proficiency in Python and its data science ecosystemExtensive experience with modern machine learning frameworks including scikit-learn, PyTorch, and statsmodelsDeep understanding of statistical and machine learning techniques, including:Regression methods (Linear, Logistic, GLMs)Tree-based models (Random Forests, Gradient Boosting)Time Series Analysis and ForecastingMultivariate Statistics and Mixed ModelingExperience with data manipulation, cleaning, and pipeline development

Leadership & Soft Skills

Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable business insightsStrong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying opportunitiesExcellence in stakeholder management and cross-functional collaborationOutstanding written and verbal communication skills

Ph.D. in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or related quantitative fieldCloud Platform Expertise:Experience deploying and scaling machine learning models on cloud platforms (AWS SageMaker, Azure ML)Understanding of cloud-based data processing and storage solutionsKnowledge of MLOps best practices and deployment workflowsStrategic Leadership:Track record of successfully influencing and driving change across multiple departmentsExperience managing complex, cross-functional initiatives with competing prioritiesAbility to build consensus and align stakeholders around data science initiativesTechnical Architecture:Experience modernizing legacy systems and processesKnowledge of data architecture principles and system integrationProven ability to design and implement scalable data science solutions
