Manager, Data Science - Supply Chain

As Manager, Data Science your essential job functions will include the following:

Provide Thought Leadership & Drive Change

Drive business results by conceptualizing advanced algorithms and mathematic models that align with existing Supply Chain strategy and allow the organization to maximize revenue and profitabilityInteract closely with the leadership team to solve issues using data and assess impact of resultsIdentify formal and informal leaders in other functional areas—build relationships within cross-functional teams that help drive progress of Data Science projectsProvide data and statistics expertise for leadership team—Produce data-driven insights that draw statistically valid conclusions and make actionable recommendationsConvert complex analysis into visual presentations and effectively communicate scenarios, risks and expected results 

Product and Project Management

Serve as lead developer for assigned projects and manage development of applications and toolsCollaborate with subject matter experts to understand nuances or anticipated events that may impact analysis outcomes and ensure efforts are in alignment with the goals of the organizationFoster collaboration and open dialogue with key stakeholders to ensure all parties perceive the need for improvement and have clear expectations for project outcomesGuide technical design and structuring of software tools that are complex and require a high level of integration with existing systems and reporting—Provide advanced-level development, testing, debugging and documentation skillsBuild scalable solutions and balance predictive power and interpretability for the ease of successful implementation—Identify potential risks when using models to drive costly Supply Chain operationsManage strategic projectsEstablish project plans, timeframes, and deliverables according to stakeholder and organization needsEnsure project sponsors are consistently kept up-to-date on project statusQuantify impact and risk of analyses and changes—ensure appropriate ROI for recommended initiatives

Manage Large Datasets

Collect and curate data needed for research, especially data that is external to the organizationDive deep into data—utilize programming tools to cleanse large structured and unstructured data setsApply transformation techniques to move data from its raw form to usable data tablesUse SQL and data APIs to interact with data stored in various systems—relational databases to distributed file systems and cloud computing environmentsManage data in manner that protects privacy and confidentiality and upholds contractual obligations

Advanced Modeling and Analysis

Iteratively, efficiently, and effectively identify and execute projects with the greatest returnDevelop mathematic models that maximize Dealer Tire and dealership profitability and inventory while minimizing costsApply statistical and algorithmic methods such as hypothesis testing, regression analysis, forecasting, natural language processing, clustering, classification, survival analysis, simulations and optimizationApply data science approaches such as machine learning (supervised and unsupervised)Develop, maintain and optimize models in cloud environments with modern approachesEnsure business units can leverage insights by providing clear, actionable recommendations and analytics, and guidance around measurements

Leadership, Mentoring & Coaching

Direct team members to support priorities within the team.Ensure team’s work is delivered in a timely, error-free way, and that relevant stakeholders across the company have been involved and/or apprised of the work, as appropriate.Maintain a level of team performance that builds credibility and trust among leadership.Determine staffing needs, interview candidates, and make recommendations on individual hires.Maintain clear plans for efficiently on-boarding newly hired team members.Communicate expectations/strategic vision to the team and direct team members’ daily activities.Develop deep organizational perspective within the team.Motivate, coach, train, counsel and provide career development for each team member.Monitor performance, conduct annual performance evaluation of each team member and recommend appropriate action such as compensation changes, promotions, counseling and termination.

Position Requirements

Master’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or other quantitative fields5+ years of experience with end-to-end data-science product management3+ years of experience in the areas of Operations Research and/or Supply Chain Projects (demand planning & forecasting inventory, optimization, network design, segmentation, and S&OP) in sophisticated and complex environments.Prior experience in applying data science to supply chain problems requiredEffective project management experience with proven results requiredStrong ability to present complex technical material to executive audiencesAdvanced proficiency in programming languages for statistics and automation (Python or R)Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point)Advanced proficiency with AWS Amazon Web Services (Sagemaker, S3, Lambda, EventBridge, Glue, Step Functions, etc.)Proficient in data-access languages (SQL, PostgreSQL, T-SQL)Proficient in agile work management tools (Jira)Proficient with version control approaches for product development (Infrastructure as code, Unit testing, Git, documentation, logging, etc.)Experience with statistical modeling, supervised and unsupervised machine-learning frameworks is a plus (SciPy, sklearn, etc.)Familiarity with Alteryx for automated reporting is a plusWorks with a sense of urgency and is able to work independently with minimal supervision

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and geographic location. The total compensation package may also include commission, bonus or profit sharing. Base Pay Range:

$117,000-$150,000
