We are currently seeking a Design Program/Operations Manager to join our Risk and Audit Design team. We are passionate about keeping our design teams well managed so that they can deliver world-class products that redefine our customers’ day-to-day financial activities.

The Design Operations Manager will be the dedicated operations support for a team of 25+ Design associates, supporting a Senior Director in managing day-to-day operations, hiring and financial oversight, strategic planning, portfolio execution, and program management of key, high-level projects. This role will work a combined operations team, directly reporting to the Chief of Staff for the Enterprise Developer, Associate, and Accelerator Design Team (EDAA.xd. We are looking for someone who can help guide leaders, make decisions, and work autonomously in a fast-paced environment. What You’ll Do: 

You’ll be asked to handle a variety of responsibilities, including: 

Collaboration & Connection

Leading the business side of the design process for products and services, from concept to delivery

Partnering with design leads to coordinate and prioritize initiatives and resources, including resource planning and allocation

Encouraging innovation and helping shape and manage effective and efficient design teams

Advocating for prioritization of design centered product enhancements grounded in research and analysis

Evangelizing the impact of design with business partners by embracing and advocating for an experience design mindset

Building and maintaining strong working relationships by collaborating with technology, product, and business teams to uncover customer and business needs

Participating in the design process (e.g., stakeholder interviews, research, analysis, and work session facilitation) as necessary

Driving momentum by keeping the overall work portfolio and team on track

Working with partners and teams across various geographies and facilitating workflow of co-located groups

Connecting with design community peers by learning, sharing, and teaching, as well as participating in the internal Community of Practice

Stakeholder and Team Management 

Comfortable managing cross-channel experiences

Comfortable working with Product and Tech partners of varying levels

Facilitating and owning cross-functional stakeholder and team meetings 

Tracking and establishing work tracking and delivery methodologies 

Familiarity working with design or creative teams

Familiarity with agile principles, project management methodologies and tools

Discovery & Delivery

Overseeing the strategic and tactical prioritization of design initiatives and workflows

Determining and implementing process improvements

Maintaining a well managed design team and project oversight by: 

Overseeing and managing team structure (e.g., hiring and onboarding employees, managing contractors and vendors, balancing attrition)

Managing changes to scope, design, and delivery schedules to meet business needs with available resources

Managing budgets, forecasting and scoping of new engagements

Communicating status, issues, and forecasts to stakeholders and ensuring work is aligned to company, organizational, and team imperatives and goals

Monitoring and balancing overall project health and team satisfaction

Creating and managing team and cross collaboration processes

Creating and implementing measurement plans and ensuring quality for successful delivery

Basic Qualifications

At least 5 years of experience with program, project management, producing, or scrum 

Bachelors Degree or Military Experience 

Experience with Google Suite applications 

Preferred Qualifications

Masters Degree 

At least 2 years of experience leading operations teams 

PMP or Six Sigma certification

Experience with Jira or Confluence

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $158,400 - $180,800 for Manager, Design


 

Richmond, VA: $144,000 - $164,400 for Manager, Design


 

New York, NY: $172,800 - $197,200 for Manager, Design


 


 


 


 


 


 


 


 

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
