Overview of the Role
Reporting to the Director, Warehouse & Distribution, this position plans, organizes, directs, manages, evaluates and is responsible for the operations, health & safety and budget of warehouse facilities, including the identification of opportunities for warehousing operation improvements.
Schedule: Monday – Friday; weekends as needed
Salary: $120,415.00 - $158,000.00 CAD Annual

Plan, develop, organize, direct, manage and evaluate the operations and budget of warehousing facilities.Plan, develop, and implement food safety programs, warehouse health and safety, and security programs and activities.Develop warehouse operations policies and procedures and communicate this information to employees.Develop and implement profit improvement plans and change management plans.Direct and control corporate governance and regulatory compliance procedures within the warehouse operations department.Develop key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of the warehouse operations.Remain current with latest warehouse operations technology systems and procedures.Plan, organize and direct warehousing related administrative services such as signage, cleaning, installations, maintenance, repair, safety inspections, parking, and snow removal.Perform day to day administrative tasks such as maintaining files and processing paperwork.Prepare or direct preparation of correspondence, reports, statistics related to the warehouse operations area of responsibility, and operations, maintenance, and safety manuals.Interview, select, coach, train, manage, and appraise the performance of warehouse personnel.Drive Promote and influence team members regarding Saputo culture.Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships.Problem solves, negotiate, and address staff challenges.Confer with other department managers to coordinate warehouse activities, including distribution, transport, sales, planning and purchasing.Review contracts, invoices, work orders, consumption reports, and demand forecasts to estimate peak delivery periods and to issue work assignments.Coordinate with other departments in Saputo.Ensure the Company’s quality and sanitation standards are met through full participation in the HACCP and BRC programs.Inspect physical conditions of warehouses, vehicle fleets and equipment, and order testing, maintenance, repair, or replacement as necessary.Ensure that Supervisors at the facility understand their roles and responsibilities and ensure their teams adhere to company safety policies and procedures and provincial legislation.Ensure that all Health & Safety issues/concerns are investigated and reported to respective personnel. Ensure the Department Supervisors are assessing the work tasks for risks, corrective measures identified and implemented, and information communicated to all affected employees.Ensure that appropriate protective devices are provided and maintained in safe condition.You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:
Post-secondary education in operations management, business, transportation or warehousing preferred.Thorough knowledge of shipping, operations management, business, transportation or warehousing.4+ years of progressively responsible experience in facility or warehouse operations are preferred.Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems is preferred.Able to perform financial calculations and create and manage budgets.Knowledge and experience of SAP is an asset.Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages and in particular, ExcelAble to make effective presentations to diverse groups.Knowledge and experience of the Dairy Industry is an asset.Knowledge and experience of applicable regulations, health and safety, public safety and security, administration and management, transportation principles and methods, change management principles and methods, personnel and human resources, labor relations, financials, customer and personal service, English language, other languages as required, and production and processing.Proven Continuous Improvement experience, implementation & understanding of its concepts.Lean Six Sigma Training would be an asset.Work values: develop and maintain working environments that are health and safety conscious, led by example and offer supportive management, and empower employees to provide service to others and work with co-workers in a friendly environment.Must be available to work shift work, holidays, weekends and on call.This year, Saputo is celebrating 70 years of passion and craftsmanship!
