Manager, Distribution & Materials

The Distribution & Materials Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of materials and products necessary for production and operational success within the depots.  This role also ensures the accuracy, safekeeping and timely movement of inventory throughout the site. In addition to managing the entire lifecycle of materials, from procurement to distribution, this role is critical to ensuring that production has the required materials to run smoothly, while maintaining optimal inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess, which can disrupt production or tie up capital unnecessarily. The manager will also implement strategies to reduce costs while maintaining quality and supply continuity. This is accomplished through the development of lean processes and procedures that meet internal and external customer requirements and the effective leadership of Inventory Control resources through clear and precise communications of responsibilities and goals.

This is an onsite role in our Irving TX facility.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

Communicates with customers and other strategic partners to gain their input and support on the business objectives Fosters true partner relationships that allow us to manage change and growth within the individual business Responsibilities includes ensuring effective operation by working with the supervisors to complete customer priorities based on demand schedules, assigning tasks/projects as needed, coordinating the flow of work, oversee completion of work, monitor key performance metrics (KPI), managing labor efficiency across the area of responsibility, mentor/coach leaders and manage headcount Ensure adherence to company policies and process standards, while maintaining employee morale and overseeing the training of new and existing staff for the department Encouraging supervisors to implement training as needed for associates Establish, track, and analyze departmental reports/measurements and present findings as appropriate Work with senior management to establish department and company goals, and rely on experience, judgment and innovation to achieve them Identify process improvements for the department along with the design of KPIs and coordinate new model introductions Create and utilize reports to accurately represent product flow and task completion rates and percentages Develop and utilize reporting to ensure SLAs are achieved Manage cycle counts and inventory control processes to ensure inventory accuracy maintained Liaison between teams, shifts, and departments, and partner with vendor/customer/client representatives while fostering true partner relationships that allow us to manage change and growth within the individual business Monitor inventory of stock and ensure adequate levels are maintained Provides technical and operational support during the business development process and new customer acquisition Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment for personnel to work in while ensuring all safety and environmental regulations are followed Develop and establish document controls to ensure accuracy of inventory Hires, develops, evaluates, and (when necessary) disciplines and discharges subordinates’ personnel or makes authoritative recommendations in such matter Develops function-specific orientation and training programs for area personnel Establishes standards for effective job performance and evaluates subordinates according to such standards Delegates these responsibilities to supervisory personnel as appropriate Responsible for the development and maintenance of an effective organization for area(s) of responsibility, including: efficient workflow patterns, established performance standards, effective delineation of duties and responsibilities, suitable staffing levels, appropriate supervision, and systems for timely communication of pertinent information

What are the requirements needed for this position?

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any business or related discipline Minimum seven (7) years’ experience required in a logistics/distribution, fast paced, high volume manufacturing environment with at least five (5) years of data interpretation/analysis and logistics experience and 2+ years of inventory management experience Minimum of five (5) years leadership experience with at least five (5) years’ experience managing supervisory personnel

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

APICS CPIM designation Working knowledge and understanding of MRP/ERP systems, WIP & Planning Previously worked in a fast-paced environment Preferred knowledge with Oracle Experience with Microsoft Great Plains Requires the ability to direct and manage through multiple teams Ability to interact effectively and positively with all levels of Company personnel as well as external personnel Able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously Highly skilled inventory control leader with extensive strategic and tactical experience, results-oriented, high energy, high urgency, and embraces effective change High level of customer interaction; frequent interruptions and re-prioritization of projects based upon customer needs, working under deadlines, creative thinking, working on multiple projects simultaneously, and ability making decisions based on various levels of information Ability to work independently and assume primary responsibility to move projects and production related services forward Requires willingness to take personal risk and make decisions based on limited data Working knowledge of Visio Ability to interact and understand IT issues related to business processes and systems changes Knowledge of inventory and warehousing processing procedures Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office product line as well as other Windows software tools
Pay Range

$63,400.00 - $105,800.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience, and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
