Position Overview
The Manager, EHS Multi-Site will lead the development, implementation, and execution of all safety and environmental initiatives across designated sites. This role requires a proactive approach to fostering a sustainable culture of EHS compliance, maintaining high safety standards, and mitigating risks. The position will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance, manage risks, and drive continuous improvements in safety performance across the organization.
This is a onsite position located in Madison, WI
Essential Duties
Lead a team of EHS professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and development opportunities to foster a high-performing team focused on safety and environmental compliance.Analyze data to identify trends and root causes of incidents, recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence and improve overall safety performance.Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to enhance communication, awareness, and the development of safety and environmental training programs.Collaborate with department leads, managers, supervisors, and employees to cultivate a culture of EHS compliance and best practices by engaging all levels of the organization in safety initiatives and promoting ownership of safety responsibilities.Partner with HR and Legal teams to manage workers' compensation claims, as well as the injury care and return-to-work programs, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations.Communicate safety strategies, priorities, and corrective actions effectively to leadership, department managers, and employees, ensuring alignment across all levels of the organization.Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards and ensure that corrective actions are implemented promptly.Design, implement, and continuously improve the company’s EHS policies, programs, and initiatives to ensure effective risk management and regulatory compliance.Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety performance and environmental impact reduction, aligning with the organization's long-term sustainability goals.Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for EHS objectives, providing regular updates to senior leadership on progress and challenges.Lead initiatives to reduce workplace injuries, illnesses, and environmental impacts, ensuring strict compliance with all relevant EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.).Lead the strategic development of initiatives to manage and minimize health and safety hazards, ensuring the timely implementation of corrective actions when necessary.Maintain oversight of Risk Registers and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for all functional areas, ensuring all hazards are identified, assessed, and controlled.Monitor and manage environmental impacts related to waste, water usage, energy consumption, and emissions, striving for continuous environmental sustainability.Lead investigations into workplace accidents and environmental incidents, identifying root causes and developing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.Monitor, evaluate, and ensure adherence to EHS standards and best practices across all operational areas, ensuring that all employees are engaged in safety protocols.Support environmental sustainability initiatives, working towards reducing the organization’s carbon footprint, waste production, and other environmental impacts.Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies and permits, including OSHA, EPA, WDNR, MMSD, State Fire Marshal, and other local, state, and federal authorities.Manage regulatory reporting and maintain EHS records, including OSHA logs, incident reports, and waste management documentation.Oversee incident investigations, identify root causes, and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence and improve safety culture.Proactively seek and integrate knowledge of industry best practices, regulatory changes, and market trends into the company’s EHS processes and initiatives.Promote awareness of safety and environmental risks and best practices across the organization, ensuring that all employees are equipped to contribute to a safe and healthy workplace.Provide timely support to managers and supervisors on employee health and environmental issues, ensuring appropriate actions are taken to resolve issues promptly and effectively.Serve as the subject matter expert on safety, environment, and health issues, offering guidance for new equipment installations, product or supply changes, and other key projects that may impact EHS compliance.Stay up to date on all relevant EHS legislation and industry best practices, ensuring the company remains compliant with evolving regulations and incorporates emerging trends into its operations.Manage staff including but not limited to organizing and prioritizing work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.Ensure ample FTE coverage for day-to-day workload needs, recommending approval or rejection of requested time off.Communicate goals clearly to employees to ensure understanding and success in achieving them.Motivate and inspire employees to do their best work through coaching.Maintain morale and support employee engagement initiatives.Lead team in continuous improvement projects and support other area needs dependent on demand.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Excellent organizational, project management, for approximately 90% of a typical working day.Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height.Ability to work on a computer and phone simultaneously.Ability to use a telephone through a headset.Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.Ability to work with hazardous or flammable materials.Ability to travel 30% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in industrial hygiene, environmental science, occupational safety and health, or related field.7+ years of experience in EHS workplace experience.2+ years of leadership experience in a regional or multi-site management role.2+ year of supervisory experience of direct and/or indirect personnel.Professional experience in program development and maintenance, auditing and monitoring, adherence to regulatory or accreditation requirements, and delivering complex multi-directional communications required.Professional working knowledge with OSHA and EPA regulations.Professional experience interfacing with various regulatory agencies and auditors required.Basic computer skills include Internet navigation, Email usage, and word processing.Proficient in Microsoft Office.Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in industrial hygiene, environmental science, occupational safety and health, or related field.Experience in a biotech manufacturing environment, medical device technology and/or clinical laboratory.10 + years of EHS workplace experience.5+ years of leadership experience in a regional or multi-site management role.5+ year of supervisory experience of direct and/or indirect personnel.Experience with FDA, CLIA, and/or CAP.Experience with ISO 45001 standards.CSP, CHMM, CEP, or CIH certification(s).#LI-RS1Salary Range:
$109,000.00 - $174,000.00The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to be considered for company stock at hire and on an annual basis.
