Job Description
Responsible for supervision and technical direction of the energy efficiency engineering group. Provides company-wide engineering personnel support through the engineering delegates/directors group. Leads engineers and technical staff, including oversight of project assignment, review, and design criteria. Coordinates design with other engineering sections, various advisory groups, and regional resources. Furnishes technical design expertise for residential, commercial and industrial energy efficiency programs and required.

Responsible for overall employee performance, productivity, and development. Manages recruiting, hiring, and retention of employees including continuous education and training, leadership development, and evaluation for coaching and guidance for employees to achieve their career goals Oversees project management functions for energy efficiency engineering work and specifically assigned projects to ensure uniformity in operation and philosophy. Works with project engineers, account executives, and program managers to set schedules utilizing available workforce and materials. Reviews scheduling, design, and reporting problems, and actual versus budgeted costs on a periodic basis. Provides ongoing technical design support, through assigned staff, to Northwest Energy Efficiency (NEEA) Committees and the Northwest Power Council’s Regional Technical Forum (RTF). Oversees communication concerning energy efficiency projects and community energy efficiency education. Prepares or assists in the preparation of various operating and safety procedures including Arc Flash and other customer-facing work procedures. Maintains a customer focus in the leadership of the energy efficiency engineering group. Establishes a culture of understanding and compassion for the needs of customers in every program and engagement. Retains and administers consultants, contract engineers, or other technical help where necessary to augment existing staff, perform specialized technical tasks, or maintain capital construction schedules. Establishes and maintains informational exchange relationships with regional utilities through energy efficiency organizations (CRAC, DRAC, regional utility advisory groups, etc.) Required to address Commission and/or Commission staff as necessary in support of Energy Efficiency Engineering. Establishes and maintains working relationships with managers and directors throughout the Company so as to identify and provide energy efficiency engineering support for Avista-implemented efficiency measures. Oversees employee expenses, time records, and projects funded by the tariff rider. Requirements Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering 5+ years of directly related work experience Professional Engineering license in Washington or Idaho Leadership experience preferred Effective and flexible written and verbal communication and presentation skills required Effective interpersonal and organizational skills required

Hybrid work options are available for this role. The successful candidate will be required to work at our Spokane, Washington headquarters at least 3 days per week including Mondays and Tuesdays with an additional day determined by the employee and manager.
