What The Role Is

Reporting to the Senior Director, Environmental, the Manager, Environmental is responsible for providing guidance and direction concerning applicable environmental requirements to Facility Management and Construction Management to ensure compliance with all site environmental programs, management of hazardous waste, petroleum, chemicals, spill prevention and control, dust control, land use permitting requirements, revegetation and vegetation control requirements across a specific region of the U.S. The primary objective is to ensure that Clearway’s Construction and Operations & Maintenance facilities are maintaining compliance environmental laws, regulations, permit requirements and ordinances

What You'll Be Doing Work with projects under construction and in operation to ensure they fully comply with all applicable legal, regulatory and company environmental requirements. Manages the implementation of specialized environmental permitting and program compliance measures (i.e., SPCC Plan, Tier II reporting, permit compliance/monitoring, etc.) for the operating facilities. Create the short and long-term compliance monitoring programs and train operations personnel on the proper implementation of these programs. Manage external consultants, including budget, deliverables, and quality control. Request and evaluate proposals from consultants and make recommendations on final consultant selection. Perform detailed quality control and content review of consultant’s documents prior to submission to outside parties. Effectively maintain high level of knowledge and understanding of environmental regulations and how they apply to the facility in the areas of chemical, air, water, and solid waste management. Keep the Construction and Operations management updated on existing or modified environmental regulations that may impact the productivity of facility operations. Provide corrective action recommendations, as needed. Administer and enforce corporate environmental policies, standards, and regulatory requirements, as they apply to Clearway projects and facilities. What You'll Bring Minimum of 5 years’ experience in environmental compliance/engineering in wind and/or solar energy industry. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Life Sciences or a related science is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software required with experience in Microsoft Project desirable. Outstanding customer service background. Working knowledge and experience with Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act as related to the construction and operation of renewable energy projects is desirable. Highly resourceful and strategic thinker; able to summarize complex issues, identify opportunities or next steps with limited guidance, and add value through creative input. Motivated team player who is action-oriented and interested in continually learning and taking on additional and more complex responsibilities. Proven ability to work in a team environment and perform effectively in a very unstructured work environment without close supervision. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Able to maintain composure and diplomacy in all situations. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent technical and organizational skills. Ability and willingness to travel as required.
