Manager, EP Lab

Provides professional and organizational leadership to effectively guide the quality of patient care for patients requiring specialty cardiology care services. Plans, organizes and oversees clinical operations of staff to ensure a smooth and efficient operation and delivery of patient care and patient experience in interventional cardiology, while adhering to policies, procedures, standards and regulations.

Major Responsibilities:

Develops and implements best practices that assist the organization in meeting or exceeding productivity, caregiver engagement, financial, quality and patient loyalty target outcomes and better manage resources.Ensures optimal utilization of all resources (i.e., staffing, supplies, equipment, etc.). Recommends and applies measures that result in greater cost efficiency in operations, and develops, implements and maintains a review mechanism in order to appraise the quality of care and optimum productivity while ensuring high quality patient care.Evaluates the quality of patient care using the Standards of Practice, and patient outcomes using quality indicators to include peer review, incident reports, use of policy and procedures, evaluation of equipment, supplies and products. Ensures appropriate resources are available for performance improvement initiatives.Promotes communication and serves as a clinical resource for patients, families, hospital departments, and medical staff to optimize the interdependence of all team members.Assists other departments in developing new services, identifying potential new sources of revenue and marketing of existing and new programs.Effectively communicates and acts as a liaison for physicians, staff and other departments to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services for patients. Serves as a clinical resource and mentor to staff.Identifies, develops, and conducts appropriate training and education to ensure staff meet and maintain skills and competencies including clinical performance, safety, and all other regulatory requirements. Collaborates with educators in providing and maintaining a quality orientation program for staff.Develops, implements and maintains department policies, procedures and processes. Enforces system and departmental policies (clinical, safety, compliance, HR) and procedures for staff and patients. Ensures operations meet all local, state and federal compliance and accreditation standards, guidelines, and practices.Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.


Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist registration (RCIS) issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), orCardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) certification issued by the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE), orElectrophysiology Specialist (CEPS) certification issued by the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE), orRegistered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), orRegistered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices, orCardiac Sonographer (RCS) registration issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), orCardiac Sonographer (RDCS-AE) registration with Adult Echo issued by the ARDMS, andBasic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), andAdvanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.


Education Required:

Associate's Degree in Cardiovascular Technology or,Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or,Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology or,Associate's Degree in Sonography


Experience Required:

Typically requires 5 years of experience in cardiac health care within a large, high volume environment. Includes 1 year of supervisory experience in managing staff and providing care to patients with acute and critical health conditions.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Highly developed interpersonal and team building skills.Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.Demonstrated ability to work successfully with physicians.Ability to handle multiple tasks, set appropriate priorities and accomplish assignments in a thorough and timely manner.Proficient computer skills including experience using Microsoft Office applications and/or similar products.Effective problem solving, decision making, delegation and coordination skills.
