Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:  This position’s primary responsibility is for all maintenance, plant operations, buildings and grounds activities for their respective Hospital.  This includes, but is not restricted to preventative and scheduled maintenance, repair services, routine utility inspections, fire safety review and services, and vendor and contractor services.  Creates and manages Team Member work schedules, and interviews to staff appropriately.  Project management includes minor contracted as well as in-house team activities.  This position will also supervise Facilities Services Team Members to include weekly and monthly shift scheduling, task assignments, review of work performance to include semi-annual appraisals, interpretation and enforcement of Health System policies and procedures including corrective action and coaching/counseling as required.  This position will support and assist the Director of Facilities Services in coordinating all activities related to management of the Facilities Services Department in providing services to their customers.  Problem solving and approaching building tours with a critical eye are essential responsibilities.  Plan assessment, capital needs, customer requests and cosmetic repairs are a daily function of this position.

Qualifications

Education & Training:  A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in a healthcare setting recognizing facilities support to the customer-base in Hospital settings. 

Work Orientation & Experience:  Previous experience managing or supervising a crew in a repair/maintenance environment.  A minimum of 5-10 years previous supervisory or management experience.  Previous experience managing in a healthcare environment preferred.  

Skills & Abilities:  Trades skills a plus but not required.  Must possess management decision making abilities.  Ability to manage multiple skills and functions.  Accountable to 24/7 operation.  Able to use a personal computer to assist in documentation of work as well as creating work schedules, tasks and routine communications.
