The full pay range for Manager, Facilities Management is $84,317-$143,338. About the Job:

The Facilities Management Department is looking for a Manager, Facilities Management to oversee and align facilities maintenance operations across the airport campus. With a focus on preventive maintenance, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement, this role ensures infrastructure reliability and that all SAN facilities meet operational demands while evolving to support long-term growth, from the airside to the terminals and public spaces.

The ideal candidate brings a blend of strategic vision and hands-on leadership, excelling in both long-term planning and daily operations. Overseeing cross-functional facilities management teams, represented employees, and government contracts, this role integrates maintenance strategies with organizational initiatives and regulatory requirements. They drive long-term infrastructure planning while optimizing day-to-day operations, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.

Beyond technical expertise, this role is about impact—shaping the airport experience for millions of travelers, ensuring operational excellence, and taking pride in maintaining a world-class facility. What You’ll Do:

Leads and Develops Teams: Provides coaching, sets performance expectations, and aligns work with organizational goals. Manages a largely union-represented workforce, ensuring adherence to labor standards. Fosters an inclusive, high-performing culture, and motivates professional growth. Oversees Facilities Maintenance: Manages cross-functional teams to execute maintenance operations, monitors performance, and ensures work plans align with operational goals and budgetary constraints. Ensures Infrastructure Compliance: Assesses facility maintenance needs, interprets regulations, and develops long- and short-term infrastructure plans that align with laws, codes, and best practices. Drives Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Builds strong internal and external partnerships, oversees facility assessments, and ensures accountability in projects, policies, and standardizations. Champions Efficiency & Innovation: Identifies opportunities for process improvement, integrates industry best practices, and drives sustainable solutions for operational excellence. Manages Budgets & Resources: Develops and controls department budgets, sets productivity targets, mitigates costs, promotes safety, and delivers recommendations on key projects and initiatives.

Driving is an Essential Function

This role requires regular driving to complete work-related tasks, including travel across the airport campus for site inspections, job walks, operational assessments, and meetings with internal and external stakeholders. Employees may use both company-provided vehicles and personal vehicles, depending on role, availability and task requirements. Applicants must acknowledge that driving is a critical aspect of this role, requirements include a valid California driver’s license, compliance with traffic laws and safety regulations. Eligibility for mileage reimbursement is to per Airport Authority company guidelines, if applicable.
