Role Description: 

At CoStar Group, our finance group centralizes transaction processes, providing accurate reporting, financial resolutions, and proper forecasting analysis. Joining the team offers access to financial specializations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash and asset management, client contracts and billing, and revenue recognition. 

CoStar is currently seeking a Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis for the Sales Finance group. In this position the Manager will be responsible for overseeing the Commissions group to ensure accurate and timely calculation and payment of sales commissions for CoStar’s over 900 sales employees. 

The Manager will report to the Senior Director of Finance and will work closely with other professionals within Sales, HR and Finance to manage the monthly sales commission process. The Manager will also play a major role in commission plan design, analysis, and reporting.  In addition to sales commissions, the Manager and his/her team will work closely with the rest of the Finance team in areas like forecasting, budgeting and other analysis. 

 

 

Responsibilities:   

Manage a team of financial analysts to develop, model, calculate, and report on commission plans. 

Design, develop, and maintain commission plans that align with company objectives, sales goals, and individual performance metrics 

Partner with sales leadership and other internal groups (Finance and HR) to assist in commission plan and tracking analyses; perform quality control to maintain high levels of quality, accuracy, and process consistency. 

Maintain comprehensive commission plan documentation. Maintain sales force communications to foster a greater understanding of the commission plans. 

Create ad hoc reports/analysis for business unit heads and executive management. 

In coordination with the Commission team work to streamline and automate process that result in timely and accurate commissions payments. 

Oversee the implementation and maintenance of new commission calculation systems; collaborate with IT and Finance teams to ensure accuracy and reliability of commission calculations 

Ensure all audit support and approvals are done and documented 

Track and monitor individual and team performance 

 

Basic Qualifications: 

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from an accredited, not-for-profit University or College, MBA degree preferred 

5+ years of experience in Finance, Business Management, or Accounting, demonstrating professional growth and a trend of increasing responsibility 

3+ years of people management experience, leading successful teams of 4+ individual contributors 

Strong Microsoft Excel and Power Point skills and experience with commissions/incentive compensation systems or other financial systems 

Experience in Commissions, Sales Finance, Sales Operations or Corporate Finance 

Ability to communicate effectively with executive level professionals within and outside of Finance 

Proven track record in recruiting, training, and managing finance staff 

Ability to adapt to changing priorities and thrive in a high transactional environment 

Detailed-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and analytical thinking 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

The ideal candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills with a record of accomplishment working successfully with both financial and non-finance professionals. 

An analytical business background, problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and high attention to detail. 

Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment. 

Familiarity with financial reporting and/or business intelligence tools (Power BI) 

Strong working knowledge of accounting.
