Job Description

Accounting Manager - General Accounting 

 

Summary: 

Advance Auto Parts is seeking a dynamic Accounting Manager to lead the General Ledger team based in the US and India. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing general ledger activities and teams across different locations. This role involves ensuring accurate and timely recording and analysis of periodic activities as well as financial reporting in compliance with U.S. GAAP accounting principles and company policies. 

 

Responsibilities: 

Lead and oversee the General Ledger team based in the US and India, providing guidance, support, and mentorship. 

Manage periodic, quarterly and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. 

Review journal entries, reconciliations, and other accounting transactions to ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies. 

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline accounting processes and implement best practices. 

Monitor and analyze financial data to provide insights and recommendations for improvement. 

Coordinate with internal and external auditors for year-end audits and ensure all audit requirements are met. 

Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls. 

Identify opportunities for process enhancements and automation to improve efficiency and accuracy. 

Stay updated on accounting standards and regulations to ensure compliance and mitigate risks. 

Manage ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned by senior management. 

 

Requirements: 

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred. 

Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a managerial role. 

Experience managing teams in both the US and India, with a strong understanding of cultural differences and effective communication. 

Proficient in US GAAP and SOX compliance.  

In-depth experience utilizing Oracle or similar ERP software. 

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail. 

Passion for process improvement ideally through the use of automation with a goal of gaining efficiencies and enhanced internal controls.  Never satisfied with the status quo 

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to motivate and develop team members. 

Ability to collaborate cross functionally, working in and leading in a team environment. 

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively. 

Experience in retail or automotive industry is a plus.
