The Global Insurance and Risk Manager will have two (2) direct reports: An Insurance and Risk Analyst and Claims Analyst.
Key Responsibilities:
Global Insurance Management:Oversee the company’s global insurance programs, including but not limited to property, casualty, workers compensation, environmental, director and officers, financial lines, warehouse legal liability, etc.Develop and implement strategies for insurance coverage to ensure adequacy, compliance, and cost-effectiveness across all regions and subsidiariesConduct regular reviews of insurance policies, working closely with brokers and insurers to evaluate coverage options and optimize termsStay abreast of global insurance trends, emerging risks, and regulatory changes, and adjust strategies as needed to ensure the organization remains protectedManage the renewal process for insurance policies, preparing necessary documentation and facilitating negotiations with insurers to achieve the best outcomes.Ensure the company maintains proper documentation and audit trails for insurance policies, claims, and risk assessments.Manage collateral positionsRisk Assessment and Mitigation Strategies:Identify and assess risks across the organization, including operational, financial, regulatory, and strategic risks, on a global scaleCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective risk identification, assessment, and mitigation at both the global and local levelsDevelop and implement comprehensive risk management strategies and frameworks to minimize potential losses and operational disruptionsConduct risk assessments and loss prevention analysis, recommending improvements and control measures to reduce the impact of risksReview contracts, leases, and financing agreements for insurance and indemnity issuesAdvise leadership on best practices for reducing risk and strive for alterative risk management opportunitiesAssist with the evaluation, implementation and management of insurance captiveCoordination with Safety, Legal, Finance, Construction and Executive Leadership TeamsClaims Management:Oversee the claims process, including working with internal teams and external adjusters to ensure accurate and timely claims reporting, tracking, and resolutionMonitor and report on claims trends, providing insights to senior management for continuous improvementAnalysis and Reporting:Prepare and present regular risk and insurance reports to senior management, highlighting key issues, performance metrics, risk assessments (existing and potential), and recommendations for coverage improvementsCommunicate risk management strategies to all departments to foster awarenessInterface with Accounting and Finance teams globally on insurance and risk management expenses; including actuals, budgets, forecasts, variances and the underlying business/market driversVendor and Stakeholder Management:Build and maintain strong relationships with insurance brokers, underwriters, legal advisors, and other third-party vendorsWork closely with internal legal and finance teams to manage the interaction between insurance policies, corporate governance, and financial riskEducate and train team members on risk management principles, insurance coverage, and proceduresM&A: Lead due diligence and risk management for acquisitionsEducational/Job Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, preferred Accounting, Finance, or Risk ManagementFive (5) to Seven (7) years of experience in risk managementStrong knowledge of insurance products and risk management strategiesAnalytical skills for assessing risk and making data-driven decisions, including expertise in risk transfer and cost/benefit analysisFamiliarity with legal and regulatory requirements in the insurance and risk management field.Ability to negotiate with insurance providers and vendors.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPointExcellent written and oral communication skillsPossess Insurance Designations such as CPCU, ARM, or other equivalent licensesGeneral understanding of accounting and budgetingSkills and Abilities
