Summary
Provide leadership and direction for laboratory quality systems to ensure the delivery of services in accordance with Sanford’s Mission, Vision, and Strategic goals. Supports and maintains the Sanford Laboratory Quality program, including the coordination of laboratory quality training and education for all laboratory staff members.Job Description
The Manager is responsible for managing laboratory quality oversite which includes Sanford Laboratories and clients. May act as a Qualified Laboratory Director, Technical Supervisor, as needed. Assists laboratory leadership to prepare for inspections related to accreditation with the College of American Pathologists (CAP), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), COLA, AABB, Joint Commission, etc. Must have a thorough knowledge of general laboratory operations, health care operations, and management principles.
Duties include implementation of enterprise-wide policies and procedures and managing a team of Consulting Technologists and Quality Specialists. Responsible for monitoring quality metrics, performance improvement activities, and responding to high level incidents related to laboratory events. Serves as a laboratory/institutional liaison in the interpretation of federal and state regulations impacting the clinical laboratories.
Actively participate in committees, staff meetings, huddles, etc., to assist with the department initiatives and implementing goals. Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization. This position supports the local market and is accountable to the Enterprise Laboratory Quality Director.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related science is required. Master's degree preferred.Minimum five years experience in laboratory with quality management or supervision required.
Possess a national certification for Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications.
