What is the Opportunity?
 

As the Manager, Learning Design you are a resourceful learning professional with the capability to quickly lead assigned responsibilities and establish yourself as a credible business partner. Your role as part of our Learning & Performance team will support our strategic objectives to enhance enterprise capability and professional skills.  You will leverage your capabilities and experience to design and develop effective learning strategies and solutions to address learning gaps and emerging needs for assigned portfolios and projects.

What will you do?

Work closely with key stakeholders to understand their requirements, estimate work effort and timelines for proposed solutions and provide recommendations and ensure solutions meet the current and emerging needs of the business.Develop and maintain relationships with business partners and collaborate with subject-matter experts (SMEs) across the organization to build solutions aligned to business requirements.Bring leading-edge and best practices in Instructional Design and Learning to meet the needs of the modern learner.Leverage and advocate innovative technology and best in class design and development methodologies to develop learning solutions in a variety of delivery channels (instructor-led, virtual, digital).Develop learning assets (web-based learning, job aids, participant guides, infographics, etc.) to create an optimal learner experience.Produces graphic design elements independently based on requirements provided by Learning Design Colleagues or Business Partners to deliver on desired outcomes.Ensure learning assets align to RBC templates, branding, user experience (u/x) and accessibility standards.Communicate the status of all projects as agreed upon with key stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are on-time and within budget; escalates as required.Collaborate with Learning and Performance team members to ensure consistent application of best practices to promote efficiency and effectiveness, including the use of Learning Design Enablement assets.Build learning sustainment strategies to enhance the learner experience, boost retention and ensure application.Develop evaluation strategies and recommendations to measure the impact of multiple complex learning projects (pilot through to implementation).Leads QA and testing routines in partnership with Learning Centre of Expertise (LCoE) colleagues and Vendor Partners to ensure digital assets function according to the defined business requirements and design vision.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

University or college degree/diploma or certification and expertise in adult education, workplace learning or related field.3-5 years progressive experience designing, building and delivering innovative, technology-enabled learning solutions.Proven skill and capability in design and development at the course, curriculum and module level in various modalities of learning design (web-based learning, instructor-led classroom/virtual classroom, quick-reference guides, job-aids, video.Proficiency with the following tools:Articulate Storyline 360Articulate RISEAdobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)Camtasia 9 (on occasion)Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)JAWSAbility to use creativity to conceptualize and design content end-to-end (i.e. using High-Level Design, Detailed Design, Storyboarding templates)Strong communication skills and creative writing skills.Proven project management skills and experience including (but not limited to):Planning and leading a small-to-medium sized projectAbility to write Business Proposals, Project Charter documents and obtain sign-off from stakeholdersNegotiate timelines and gain buy-in from business partnersEffective communication and negotiation skills with ability to influence to gain alignment and support.Strong critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills.Detail-oriented.Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholder expectations.Strong relationship and collaboration skills to work with project teams comprised of internal and external learning colleagues, subject matter experts and business leaders.Aptitude for navigating the business environment advances in learning and emerging trends in technology.Ability to work independently as well as collaborate effectively in a team environmentStay curious about advances in technology, learning and development to enhance the learner experience.Organizes time and work to accomplish project deliverables effectively and efficiently.

Nice-to-haves:       

Proficiency with courseware development tools (e.g. Articulate Storyline, Rise, Axonify, Adobe CC), Learning Management Systems (Workday), web conferencing platforms (Webex) an asset.Related experience working in the financial services sector.CTDP designation.After Effects, Video EditingBilingual (English/French).
