Role description:
The Machine Repair Manager is responsible for directing the maintenance of glass Individual Section (IS) machines, feeder mechanisms, shear, as well as related equipment.
Responsibilities:
Select and develop employees to adequately staff the machine repair department which includes salary administration, effective employee and union relations, developmental and training opportunities, and succession planning
Plan and estimate costs on machine repairs for glass forming machines, as well as machine rebuild with assistance from the corporate machine group for glass container lines
Collaborate with production managers and tank managers regarding preventative maintenance for IS Machines through Fiix CMMS
Order replacement parts and assist in proper inventory of parts
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, with other departments, the union, and corporate
Comply with environmental and food safety standards as outlined in plant policies within the department
Minimum skills / qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Ten (10) years of experience in glass manufacturing with an emphasis on the machine repair process, job changes, mold equipment, and management experience
Excellent communication skills
Proficient organizational, analytical, and planning skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to work in a heavy industrial, high-risk work environment
Ability to work outside of regular work hours
Ability to prioritize work and have a sense of urgency
Ability to travel up to 5%
Preferred skills / qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline
Fifteen (15) years of experience in glass manufacturing with an emphasis on the machine repair process, job changes, mold equipment, and management experience
Prior experience with work order management database (i.e. Fiix)
