Southwire Job Description

Reports To: Plant Manager Supervises: All Maintenance Personnel including Mechanics, Electricians, Electronic Technicians, and other  Maintenance Positions.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Direct employees in installation and repair of electrical and mechanical systems, apparatus, and components of industrial machinery and equipment, following electrical codes, manuals, schematics, and blue prints Schedule and assign employees to daily task of maintaining the facility and production equipment via work orders-Follow up to ensure work is completed Schedule maintenance technicians and maintain database for equipment calibration such as spark tester, lump neck and line counters Direct outside contractors in installation of machines and equipment following electrical code, supplier's recommendations, and blueprints Provide leadership and support to guide employees in testing malfunctioning machinery using test equipment and discuss malfunctions with other maintenance workers to properly diagnose malfunction Provide leadership and support of Lean Manufacturing initiatives Responsible for HVAC, chillers, boilers, air compressors, pumps and electrical systems Diagnose and replace faculty mechanical, hydraulic, steam and pneumatic components of machines and equipment Access existing equipment and process deficiencies, by working with other operation team members, including process engineers. Modify equipment and/or processes to achieve Principal Objective Directs/manages the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary Negotiates and develops relationships with vendors to ensure we're getting the best prices

Maintain positive attitudes to assure company and customer (internal and external) satisfaction Provide personal counseling and keep employees informed of policies, procedures and operational changes. Perform reviews, hiring and discipline for subordinates Responsible for maintaining safety rules and instructing employees on good safety habits Initiate and attend meetings to ensure continuous improvements in tooling and work habits. Coordinate and guide employee involvement in team building, meetings, projects and company policies and procedures Consult with Engineering, Quality and Safety to ensure production manufacture ability Responsible for meeting production and delivery deadlines

Desirable Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in technical discipline and or equivalent experience preferred Previous technical supervisory experience demonstrating the ability to manage Experience troubleshooting mechanical systems with electronic controls Five years of electrical experience with manufacturing equipment Five years of mechanical experience with manufacturing equipment Digital controls troubleshooting experience Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills and be able to read specs and prints Must be able to use and manipulate computer applications such Word and Excel
