About the role:

As a Manager, Manufacturing Engineering you will a team of manufacturing engineering professionals that support our operations in Peterborough and are focused on world class delivery of our commitments to our nuclear industry customers.

You will report to the Director, Peterborough Operations and work onsite at our Peterborough, Ontario, Canada facility.

Main Responsibilities:

Direct reporting responsibility for a team of technical professionals. Develop critical technical competencies in the team to maximize effectiveness and productivity

Champion a work environment that instils priority focus on a nuclear and industrial safety culture. 

Lead, major capital investment programs to improve equipment/facility capability and/or capacity

Ensure resource capacity and capability are in place to support fulfilment of customer commitments (e.g. resource planning), including cross-training and retention

Accountable for the financial performance of the team.  This includes close monitoring of performance, promoting a culture of strict budget compliance on project activities and responsibility for cost center expense spending.

Support operational strategy development and deployment in a growing market environment

Champion continuous improvement Projects within the Manufacturing operations that focus on productivity, cost improvement and/or streamlining planning and execution activities.

Coordinate, review and approve estimates for prospective work (e.g. proposals)

 

Qualifications:

Minimum 10 years of experience in manufacturing environment with 5+ years of relevant experience in a leadership role

Successful completion of a post-secondary diploma/degree in a relevant engineering field, Mechanical or equivalent experience

Demonstrated commitment to EHS performance and safety-conscious culture

Experience with directing of a team of professionals

Experience with manufacturing techniques, welding processes or specifications and associated inspection techniques.

Comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations.

Experience working in a team environment.

Experience and comfortable with working with, and presenting to, business leadership

Some travel is required to other WEC sites and customer locations. It is a bona fide job requirement to be eligible and authorized to travel to the U.S. on Westinghouse business, and such travel is subject to the rules and regulations of the U.S. Department of Energy, and compliance with all applicable U.S. export laws and regulations.
