Job Title: Manager, Manufacturing Engineering Pay Grade: M3 Job Description: Primary Purpose of Role: The role of the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering (Defense Assembly) is to cast a vision for highly complex, low volume transmission assembly. Additionally, to lead a small team of less experienced assembly engineers in implementing that vision. Key Responsibilities: + Hire, lead, and manage a dynamic team to create an inclusive and collaborative work environment. + Monitor, evaluate, and provide regular feedback on employee performance – mentoring and coaching for employee growth and implementing improvement plans as needed. + Drive employee engagement and retention initiatives to maintain a motivated workforce – positively represent corporate communications to influence outcomes that support business strategies. + Ensure compliance with Allison Policies and manage employee relations matters as needed. + Understand program timing, implementing key milestones to follow + Understand program budgets, bringing awareness to potential issues + Cast a vision for low volume, high complex transmission assembly + Lead 3-6 assembly engineers through multiple programs following a clearly defined vision, adhering to timing milestones and budgets + Assist the team as needed, taking on various engineering assignments throughout the lifecycle of programs to ensure team success + Become the key point of contact for updates to the Operation Program Management team for Defense Assembly + Provide support in weekly Product Team Meetings with an ability to influence across business functions (either self or team members) + Manage various HR aspects for the team, not limited to: Setting Goals, Conducting Reviews, Measuring Success, Recommending Compensation Changes and Bonuses, Managing PTO Key Performance Measures: + Safety + Quality + Cost + Responsiveness + Productivity Competencies and Behaviors: Required: + The Highest Standards in Everything We Do – consistent demonstration of this competency, honestly reporting program status + Drive a Positive Customer Experience – consistent demonstration of this competency, staying in touch with plant personnel + Improve the Way the World Works – serve as a mentor in this competency, helping develop new and innovative was to solve problems + Leverage the Power of Teamwork – servce as a mentor in this competency, assisting the team as needed sharing assignments + The ability to dissect complex issues, overcome obstacles, and learn from failures with a focus on executing solutions. + The ability to interact effectively with senior levels of management while providing executive summaries, of gaps and needs, that allow time for their assistance. + The ability to coach and mentor others, always leads by example. + The ability to work effectively in a cross functional group setting. Qualifications: Required : + Bachelors in Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline Preferred : + Experience in the implementation of major production launches. Experience: Required : + 10+ years’ experience in Manufacturing Engineering with a focus on assembly operations Preferred : + 5+ years’ experience leading a team of Engineers + Experience in the implementation of major production launches.
