The Creative Manager of Marketing Campaigns is responsible for changing the course of Meijer’s customer behavior through breakthrough ideas and empowering a team to effectively build them into an effective creative and communication across the customer experience, allowing our brand and our business to reach it’s best possible future.

This role is a champion for new ideas and is customer obsessed – continually demonstrates learning from and influencing partners across the organization to move challenges, insights and opportunittes into action through the most effective creative strategy, art direction and message for our customers across all forms of media.

This role maps out creative strategy and response to business/brand opportunitites among a team of designers, writers and partners across the organization, and external agencies to build, design and communicate through the most effective customer journey.

This role is responsible for overseeing and inspiring a team to produce outstanding creative development over the entire customer experience, across the Meijer brand portfolio – and through fully integrated creative experiences.

This role should be a visionary for our brand and customer communication, constanly seeking better ways to create connection and action with our customers.

The position is a leader of leaders - grows creative and talent development across Associate Creative Managers, Designer 3, Designer 2, Sr. Copywriter and copywriters. This role also collaborates closely within marketing – campaigns strategy, media, digital merchandising, loyalty, space planning and agency partners to bring ideas to life. Partners and influences audiences outside of marketing including merchandising, operations, communications, community partnerships.

The candidate should be versed in moving at the pace of retail while navigating a complex organization to bring simple, effective ideas to life. Requires presenting and influencing all audiences.

What You'll be Doing:

Brings the overall creative vision to life across our Meijer brand portfolio, through a large onsite creative team, marketing partnerships and external agencies. Ideas and creative development are expected to influence all aspects of brand experience / customer journey and result in metrics that achieve brand/business objectives and reach financial targets.Responsible for hiring, coaching and leading growing and a large and diverse group of creative team members.Accountable for accurate, on-time completion of all creative.Owns team budget, supported by development and management of it through Associate Managers.Ability to work independently on strategic issues with different audiences, capable of managing complex projects.Ability to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks of varying complexities, meet deadlines and work well under pressure.Continually seeks new opportunities to advance creative design, process and team collaboration.Responsible for presenting new ideas to different levels of audiences and interpreting feedback to strengthen concepts across the team.Development as a leader, practice and development of other leaders in an agile work environment for creative design.Responsible for fostering outstanding collaboration with multiple external agency partners and/or internal teams to build, advance and execute the Meijer brand through business and brand campaigns – creative agency, photography & video partners.Ability to develop partnerships across many business areas to collaboratively solve and bring gravity to the work – marketing, merchandising, ops, community & partnerships, HR.Versed in extending an idea across all media types including video/photo, digital/mobile, social, print, visual merchandising, radio, etc.Develops a team of Associate Managers, Sr Copywriter and Designers to bring creative solutions across a fast-paced and versatile business environment. Coaches the team to develop the best idea quality and bring the brightest work environment.Accountable for talent development and culture of the Meijer creative team – developing a highly capable, collaborative, engaged and talented group of critical thinkers and creators to bring the best idea quality in a very inspiring work environment. Places focus on growing new leaders within the creative marketing organization – development of associate managers and helping them respond to overcome challenges to creative process, feedback and team development.Effectively navigates a large, ambiguous and complex organization with speed to creatively solve across a broad diversity of business and brand subject matter, including brand (grand openings, grand openings, community investment, diversity & inclusion, grand openings), our business (merchandising, own brand) and our service areas (grand openings, digital shopping, Meijer credit card, HR) and translating them into marketing campaigns create meaningful action.Champion of ideas and steward of creative strategy, brand identity and discipline for our brand and business areas. Identifies strategic opportunities of how we bring our brand and businesses to life – connection points, distinction, participation and voice across channels. Brings creative strategy and discipline to design/copywriting team to activate and advance our brand experience; requires partnership with campaigns and media teams.  Builds and fosters a highly positive and productive team culture for the development of the most creative ideas; continually inspires and motivates team by connection to customer insights, strategy, and the results of the biggest, best brand potential.Accountable for equally creative and strategic critical thinking to leading the development of the Meijer customer journey across campaigns, different audiences, media types for every Meijer business area, service and brand.Seeks new brand opportunities – and brings forward new customer ideas – to drive traffic, growing sales, margin and loyalty into our Meijer Supercenters, Meijer Grocery and Meijer Express locations. Uses creative and strategic mindset to proactively bring increase our brand/business potential through building distinction in our brand portfolio communication. Courageously brings forward ideas that influence participation across teams to build a memorable customer experience at Meijer.

What You Bring with You (Qualifications):

Degree in marketing, advertising and/or design.10+ years of experience leading teams in creative strategy, planning and/or design.Responsible for growth and development across a diverse group of team members.Capable creating big ideas and creative strategies linked to business and brand priorities to guide a team to creative soultions.Capable of assessing talent and skill set of creative team members, and assigning appropriate assignments, in partnership with project management.Communicates effectively at all levels - internal partners, agencies and staff.Juggles diverse and scope of work and priorities, with effective delegation.Rapidly and easily changes direction as priorities shift.High creative instinct and ability to effectively communicate purposeful feedback.Versed in cultural, creative and media trends.
