Manager, Mould Repair

Role description: 

The Mold Repair Manager is responsible for managing the mold department to ensure that the forming department receives the highest standard and quality of mold design. This role is also responsible for repairing mold equipment to produce quality containers for customers. 

 

Responsibilities: 

Design and direct all in-plant revisions to mold equipment to ensure quality containers and meet company speed percentage of pack and weight standards 

Inspect and oversee the correction of departmental safety hazards and observe and correct departmental employee safety work practices and procedures 

Instruct and counsel on mold equipment revision and repair methods and procedures 

Work with corporate and plant scheduling to ensure adequate mold equipment and related parts for job changes ensuring the best time and method of movements for new and interplant transfers of mold equipment 

Order all mold equipment inserts, tools, supplies, and related parts to operate the department 

Supply enough serviceable mold equipment to make a successful production run 

Maintain all records for incoming and outgoing equipment transfers and direct the inspection and inventory of all incoming mold equipment 

Maintain all attendance time and vacation records for the department 

Monitor the life of mold and track inventory 

Comply with environmental and food safety standards as outlined in plant policies within the department 

 

Minimum skills / qualifications:  

High School Diploma or equivalent 

Ten (10) years of experience in glass manufacturing with an emphasis on the mold repair process, job changes, machine repair equipment, and management experience 

Excellent communication skills  

Proficient organizational, analytical, and planning skills 

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite 

Ability to work in a heavy industrial, high-risk work environment 

Ability to work outside of regular work hours 

Ability to prioritize work and have a sense of urgency 

Ability to travel up to 5% 

 

Preferred skills / qualifications:  

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline 

Fifteen (15) years of experience in glass manufacturing with an emphasis on the mold repair process, job changes, machine repair equipment, and management experience 

Prior experience with work order management database (i.e. Fiix)
