Manager, New Homes Permitting

Overview

The Manager, New Homes Permitting is responsible for ensuring that all permits required to install for all New Homes projects are secured in a timely and cost effective manner. This leader will manage a small team of permit coordinators who develop permitting strategies at the community and lot levels, and work with builders or Sunrun permitting resources at branch locations to physically pull permits.  This leader will also be responsible for identifying where permitting can be done remotely, and seek to use outsourced resources to complete tasks at a lower cost.  This leader will establish SLAs with partner teams and measure performance against those SLAs to ensure we can deliver for our builders.  Most importantly, this leader will coordinate strategically with AHJs and builders to develop innovative approaches to meeting permit requirements for new products.

Responsibilities

Fully responsible for ensuring Sunrun delivers permits to builders on time and cost effectively

Collaborates with permit runners housed in SRM branches, within builder orgs, or offshore

Develops and executes strategy to lower permitting costs for Sunrun

Serves as the Sunrun New Homes main point of contact for all permitting needs, including managing production in high volume areas as well as scoping requirements in new markets

Develops SLAs and performance metric targets and measures performance vs. target on both an individual and team level; makes corrective changes as needed to deliver required result

Identifies gaps in upstream or downstream systems/processes and collaborates with peers and other functional leaders within and outside of New Homes to optimize flow

Collaborates with builders proactively and reactively to ensure inputs are received in a timely manner and updates are provided as appropriate on status of key issues and initiatives.

Supports development of tools that align with and support ideal process flow

Qualifications 

Bachelor’s Degree or 10 years work experience

5+ years professional experience with people management

Experience leading permitting teams New Homes Solar environment

Deep understanding of permitting requirements from AHJs across CA & nationally

Experience leveraging a hybrid team of onshore and offshore resources

Experience developing reports and work queues in salesforce to manage team’s work

Experience with working with builders and AHJs directly

Physical Demands 

Remote work acceptable

Up to 20% travel

Starting salary/wage for this opportunity:

$69,803.21 to $93,070.95

Other rewards may include annual bonus eligibility, which is based on company and individual performance, short and long term incentives, and program-specific awards.  Sunrun provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
