The Part D Clinical Pharmacist Manager is a dynamic and experienced Pharmacist knowledgeable in evidence-based pharmacy practice. This includes knowledge and implementation of safe, effective and cost-effective selection and utilization of medications for our patients. Serves as primary contact for corporate consulting and our Centers providing education to physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, pharmacy staff and other stakeholders as needed. Manages personnel, including coordinating employees' work and providing guidance and feedback to Pharmacy COE.
**ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES** **:**
+ Oversees the MACC (Medication Adherence Call Center) team, a team of pharmacy technicians that work to keep our patients on therapy by assisting on pushing through refills on a timely basis, internally and externally if necessary
+ Understands, evaluates, and transforms pharmacy claims and payer data into a practical format that our centers and staff can use to enhance our star ratings.
+ Participate in payer calls to foster rapport, establish trust, and enhance our collaborative relationships and shared initiatives
+ Analyzes data and trends related to internal prescriptions and medication orders for appropriateness, focusing on safety and efficacy, while assisting in the creation and management of the formulary.
+ Acts as a national pharmacy consultant for our physicians regarding patient case inquiries, drug interactions, therapy suggestions, and more. Our aim is to choose the most cost-effective medications to achieve the best outcomes for our patients.
+ Performs prospective drug utilization reviews, evaluating proper dosage, use directions, drug interactions, duplicate therapies, and any other regimen-related factors, making case-by-case and population health interventions as necessary.
+ Provides timely retrieval of reliable drug information from available sources.
+ Oversees pharmacotherapeutics services in accordance with institutional practice standards and or protocols collaborating with specialists to develop clinical guidelines for our clinicians in the centers.
+ Creates and implements programs/guidelines that improve practice and patient outcomes.
+ Delivers efficient cost-effective patient centered care that minimizes hospitalization expenses
+ Provides verbal and written consultations concerning medication therapy on a daily basis.
+ Engages in the implementation and maintenance of guidelines and order sets alongside the department leader and other specialists.
+ Participates in the educational experience of pharmacy residents and pharmacy students.
+ Delivers presentations, publications, and other informative activities related to specialty practice, as well as Part D education for HEDIS measures. .
+ Represents the pharmacy department on applicable committees and teams, including serving on the P&T meeting.
+ Provides input and guidance for management of medication formulary alongside the Pharmacy COE leader and other team members
+ Follows established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control products.
+ Supports and facilitates the Quality Improvement process through continuous development and monitoring of performance improvement indicators.
+ Fosters the growth and facilitation of Pharmacy work teams to meet quality and clinical standards of care.
+ Assists the Director in ensuring the effective and efficient use of all resources while meeting budget and value proposition targets.
+ Performs other duties as assigned and modified at manager’s discretion.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:**
+ Knowledge of and experience with state and federal insurance programs, formulary inclusions, programs for Medicare/Medicaid, with Part D knowledge.
+ Familiarity with appropriate local, state, and federal pharmacy-related regulations for multiple states.
+ Ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team
+ Ability to supervise and communicate effectively with staff, management and executives
+ Strong organization and time management skills and multi-tasking abilities
+ Must be detail oriented and have a strong sense of understanding when it comes to data evaluation and interpretation
+ Ability and willingness to travel locally, regionally and/or nationally up to 10% of the time; flexible to work evening, weekends and/or holidays as needed
+ Spoken and written fluency in English
+ This job requires use of exercise of independent judgement
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:**
+ Must have a License that is in good standing with State Board of Pharmacy
+ Doctorate of Pharmacy is required (PharmD); Pharmacy residency training is preferred, but not required
+ Experience with supervising Pharmacy Technicians
+ Experience in a managed care setting (HMO, MSO, PBM) , HEIDS Part D quality measures is preferred
+ Completion of Medication Therapy Management certificate program or Ambulatory Care Certificate is preferred
+ Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification required
+ Experience teaching is a plus
+ Work Authorization/Security Clearance
