ATCC, a leading nonprofit biological resources and standards organization, is seeking a highly motivated Manager to lead an established team of production planners and master schedulers within commercial manufacturing. The manager will provide tactical leadership and technical expertise in all aspects of production planning. This individual will be accountable for implementing and communicating master schedules, managing production planning, and enhancing manufacturing performance reporting. This role requires close collaboration with various departments to ensure smooth operations and involves evaluating business unit outcomes to achieve organizational objectives. This role is hybrid based in Manassas, VA (1 to 2 days per week minimum onsite after initial training).
The Manager, Planning reports to the head of manufacturing and is responsible for ensuring consistent operational execution, driving continuous improvement, and supporting an ongoing ERP platform.

Responsibilities Production Planning and Scheduling:Analyze demand patterns and collaborate with demand planning to build a seamless production plan.Lead and manage a team of production planners and master schedulers to define and execute tactical and master production schedules.Be accountable for all Master Planning and Production Control activities, including capacity planning, forecasting, and production schedule maintenance.Work with the planning team and other business partners to establish a level-loaded master production plan for various fulfillment strategies.Performance Metrics and Reporting:Be accountable for monthly delivery metrics, including on-time delivery, shipment volume vs. forecast accuracy, and production plan schedule attainment.Lead the development and maintenance of a visual planning tool to improve scheduling visibility and implement schedule initiatives.Supervise and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production planning.Collaboration and Communication:Maintain strong working relationships with product management, customer service, procurement, manufacturing, QC, and shipping to communicate lead times and ensure customer satisfaction.Lead formal and informal problem-solving processes to ensure site on-time delivery and lead times meet goals.ERP and Additional Responsibilities:Oversee ERP-related tasks and projects as required.Ensure the maintenance of FG inventory levels to meet customer demands. Qualifications Bachelor's degree and 7 or more years' experience, including 2 or more years' supervisory experience or equivalent experience.Significant experience with MRP/ERP software; experience with ERP implementation or upgrades is highly preferred.Experience in a manufacturing environment, with a preference for ISO 9001, 13485, and/or GMP environments.Demonstrated understanding of Manufacturing Planning and Control, including Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning, Master Scheduling, Production Control, Distribution Requirements Planning, and Capacity Planning.Experience leading a production and/or materials planning team utilizing MRP/ERP systems.Demonstrated experience managing mixed model fulfillment portfolios, including make-to-order and make-to-stock strategies.Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as LEAN, Six Sigma, or equivalent is preferred.Strong team player and self-starter with the ability to work independently.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent verbal and written communication skills. BenefitsThe expected salary range for this position is $130,000 to $140,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional incentive compensation including regular merit increases and the corporate bonus program.
