The Manager, Quality position is in our Carrollton, TX facility. This is not a remote role.
Position Summary: The Manager, Quality is responsible for the quality of processes and product outputs. Activities include:
Assisting in the planning, coordination, and direction of the quality control systems designed to ensure continuous production consistent with established standards. Employing the Quality Core Tools (i.e., APQP, CP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA), plans and administers the quality process in accordance with the Quality Management System (QMS). Defining and specifying activities, processes, and standards to fulfill the quality requirements for manufactured products. Developing relationships with Operations and Engineering to understand and ensure product quality and orders meet customer requirements. Conducting the necessary procedures (e.g., inspection, testing, etc.) to analyze the quality of products and develop or revise quality procedures or initiatives to ensure processes and products meet Company standards and customers’ quality requirements. Auditing, monitoring, and determining the quality of processes or outputs, either against defined internal and/or regulatory standards, while working closely with production to prevent defects from going to the next process. Includes reporting on process deviations and defects. Improving processes and provide immediate feedback and training at each process. Ensuring that plant personnel are trained and actively performing quality control processes, quality checks, etc. Lead the ISO 9001 certification program.
The Manager, Quality is also responsible for identifying, coaching, and managing suppliers according to organization quality standards and policies. Activities include:
Providing advice and training on quality protocols and conducting audits to ensure compliance with organization and applicable government standards. Negotiating service level agreements, performance/quality metrics and ensuring contractual obligations are met. Resolving supplier problems related to quality, performance, and service level. Supporting Operations and Engineering by identifying process improvement opportunities within the 4Front supply base. Working with and reviewing supplier manufacturing processes to develop corrective action plans to realign process flow, drive improvement in quality and productivity, and identify value enhancement opportunities. Assisting in the identification and certification of alternative suppliers to mitigate supply disruption risks.
Description of Essential Job Functions: Quality Assurance/Control Support and maintain the infrastructure and systems necessary to consistently ensure the timely delivery of quality products. Maintain plant compliance to ISO-9001:2015 standards as well as customer defined quality systems and requirements. In conjunction with the Quality Assurance Manager, define and specify activities, processes, and internal quality control procedures and standards to fulfill the quality requirements for manufactured products. Audit, monitor, and determine the quality of manufacturing processes and/or outputs (products) against defined internal and regulatory quality standards and procedures. Test random samples of finished goods to collect product data. Apply statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes. Act as an Internal Auditor for the Quality Management System by conducting quality audits. Includes visual/functional evaluation of product, verifying production activities are following the control plan and job aids. Oversee the evaluation of process audits and finished product inspections for quality and reliability. Consolidate and review data from quality, process, layered, and dock audits. Conduct inspections on production processes to ensure 4Front’s welding quality system meets the compliance requirements of the AWS Certified Welding Fabricator (CWF) program. Includes coordinating welding guidelines, machine settings, and process validation. Report manufacturing process deviations and defects in finished goods including investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving problems. Provide immediate feedback to production if a non-conformance is found. Verify all non-conforming parts produced are quarantined and labeled. Support root cause analysis activity on process and product improvement. Ensure quality systems and procedures are maintained and effectively used by all employees. Develop and maintain a partnership-style relationship with Operations and Engineering. Establish a team environment at each process to address the day to day problems and improve product and process quality. Support the development of production documentation including Control Plans, DVP&R, PFMEA and Standardized Work to PPAP requirements. File and maintain various quality systems and quality-related documents, materials, and records in accordance with Company procedures. Prepare quality reports for management and employees as necessary. Create and provide quality training for production employees. Provide training at process on inspection criteria as needed.
Supplier Quality Support identification, coaching, and management of suppliers according to organizational quality standards and policies. Assist with supplier program launch readiness review process with Purchasing. Assist with negotiating service level agreements and performance/quality metrics. Ensure contractual obligations are met. Provide advice and training on quality protocols and conduct audits to ensure compliance with organization and applicable government standards. Maintain supplier audit results. Communicate and instruct suppliers on the use of a corrective action process and quality tools and techniques. Resolve supplier problems related to quality, performance, and service level. Lead root cause analysis on purchased part or product quality issues and work issue through containment phase of corrective action process. Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure awareness of known purchased part or product quality issues and to identify opportunities for quality and productivity improvement. Collect and maintain supplier performance and quality metrics. Identify repeat quality issues by supplier and maintain supplier quality scorecard. Monitor customer supplied warranty data and supplier PPAP files and respond accordingly. Give feedback on the experience with all purchased products or components and provide input to the decision of whether to accept the product and future purchases from the supplier. Support the process of identifying and certifying alternative suppliers to mitigate supply disruption risks.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises all subordinates and their day-to-day activities within functional areas of Quality. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in business, engineering, or another technical field with 3+ years of quality assurance/control, supplier quality, or technical services experience in a manufacturing environment, or High School diploma or equivalent with 8+ years of quality assurance/control, supplier quality, or technical services experience in a manufacturing environment. Previous leadership or supervisory experience. Experience with quality systems and standards. Working knowledge and experience with welding, hydraulics, and highly customized electronic control systems. Training and presentation experience with customers and/or coworkers.Computer Skills
Ability to use a personal computer utilizing spreadsheet and word processing software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work. Advanced/Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint preferred.
Certificates, Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
Internal Auditor certification is a plus. Certification in Basic Hydraulic Systems, Electronic Control Systems, and/or Maintenance Welding is a plus.

Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardizations exist. General understanding and working knowledge of manufacturing, assembly, and welding equipment and tooling including design, gauges, equipment design, automation, robotics, or manufacturing processes. Working knowledge of material types specifications and characteristics used in dock levelers and electronic control panels. Thorough understanding of company product, trade terminology, quality management and control systems and techniques, manufacturing processes including material controls, work flow, scheduling, just-in-time/pull system, machine operation, and company policies as standards. Quality Instruments - Working knowledge of Pin, Ring, Plug and Go/NoGo Gauges, Digital Calipers/Micrometers, Scales, Pull Testers, etc. Quality Management – Working knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools of quality assurance, quality control, and reliability used to ensure that a project, system, or product fulfills requirements and standards. Quality Processes and Systems - Demonstrated success with drawings, PPAP submissions, CAR, 8D, Customer Complaint / Warranty responses, and Document Control. Quality Standards - Working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards. Quality Testing - Maintains a working knowledge of the latest codes and new developments in testing and examination methods of processes, materials, and products. Manufacturing - Knowledge of the specifications, tools, inputs, raw materials, outputs, and waste related to the manufacture of prototypes, models, systems, or other products. Mathematical Concepts - Requires the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Includes the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Other Qualifications, Experience, or Requirements:
Requires a motor vehicle operator’s license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle while carefully observing all traffic rules and regulations. Requires the ability to use a variety of office/production related equipment such as a telephone, photocopier, and precision measuring instruments. Work beyond the traditional 40 hours per week may be required as workload or projects dictate, including weekends and holidays.
