Manager, Quality Assurance

Role Summary:

This functional manager role is responsible for leading the day-to-day Nuclear and ISO 9001:2015 Quality Assurance function of the Lynchburg site in support of the site’s Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and all associated performance objectives.  This role leads all quality assurance and quality control activities and processes for the site’s quality program to ensure compliance with all applicable customer order requirements, and standards, a safe work environment, employee development and engagement, quality process execution resulting in a quality product, and adherence to the project execution plan supporting on-time delivery to customers.  This leadership role must demonstrate and coach enterprise leadership mindset behaviors, facilitating a process transformation and cultural transformation across the Lynchburg site.  Travel is expected to be less than 10%.


Responsibilities include:
- Engages with the site leadership teams to effectively communicate customer, regulatory and organizational requirements to assure product quality, contract compliance and customer satisfaction.
- Manages the QA team and the Manufacturing Indirect QC team of a particular site to ensure proper balance of meeting quality targets and operational throughput.
- Oversees the effective documentation and implementation of the QMS to assure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements and the standards set by corporate/division policies.
- Partners with the leadership team to ensure that individuals performing functions affecting quality are trained and demonstrate the appropriate skills and performance results.
- Coordinates necessary plant personnel for internal, customer and third-party quality system audits. This will include on site as well as phone in surveys and mail-in surveys.
- Approval of all business system QAB access requests and annual access audits.
- Maintain corporate corrective action system to analyze and drive corrections of nonconforming conditions and complaints.
- Implements the performance measurements necessary to effectively evaluate organizational performance and trends in product quality, services, customer satisfaction and the cost of quality.
- Uses the results of performance evaluation to drive improvement efforts using Lean/CI tools.
- In conjunction with supply chain resources, develop and initiate methods to qualify, certify and maintain domestic or low-cost region suppliers in accordance with ISO 9001 standards.
- Responsible for developing and managing the Material Review Board process.
- Collaborating with our company’s quality leadership, you will champion the implementation of the quality plan and quality management system (QMS) at the site level to achieve the overall success of quality objectives.
- Using your demonstrated leadership, project management, facilitation and problem-solving skills, you can lead this team to enhance and improve the site’s products and services through the implementation of ISO 9001, root cause analysis (RCA), prevention methods, and CI techniques (i.e. Lean, Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control).
- Displays strong leadership by making time to connect with associates, creating a great environment for everyone to work in, and help develop the team to reach their collective and individual potential.

Requirements:

- BS or BA Degree in relevant field and 8-10 years relevant experience
- Experience in quality leadership
- Demonstrated experience managing/supervising a quality team
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ASME, NUPIC, AS9100 and other relevant industry codes and standards
- Based on business or customer needs, you may experience 10% - 15% travel, which could include international travel

- Previous Manufacturing experience
