Summary
The Shipping Manager is responsible for managing routine shipping, receiving and distribution operations on a day-to-day basis. Also responsible for the outgoing shipments, completing the orders that are being shipped and ensuring delivery in a timely manner. This position requires a detailed knowledge of shipping and receiving processes. Must be well-organized, analytical, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. In addition, the role requires someone who is comfortable with information systems, shipment documentation and an understanding of shipping and receiving policies and procedures.
Position Responsibilities
Use software to check, track, route and prioritize orders and receipt of goodsEnsure shipping and receiving team is trained and certified to ship and handle hazmat in accordance with DOT regulationsWell versed in international shipping procedures, export law, incoterms, and customs filingsSupports internal and external audits on shipping and receiving documentation and practices to ensure compliance with government regulations and best practice standardsEnsures customer deliveries are packaged, labeled and processed in accordance with contractual requirementsSupport all company shipment needs, including trade shows, demos, RMAs, and inter-office equipment transfersEngages with carriers and freight vendors to keep robust portfolio of reliable partners to move materialsManage all the crucial documents such as bills of lading, packing slips, shipping notices etc.Manage the packaging process and direct the flow of shipments from packaging to shipmentOversee and lead the subordinate staffWork as a team player with purchasing, warehouse, and other managers to optimize processesResolve issues related to the shipped and received ordersEnsure compliance with company policies and legal regulationsReport to higher management on issues and other risky activitiesOther duties as assignedBasic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
BA/BSc in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related fieldCandidates having High School Diploma or GED with desired experience can also be considered7 years of direct experience in field of LogisticsSupply Chain or related function3 years of experience as a Shipping or Receiving Manager, Materials Manager, Project Manager or similar roleExtensive know-how of logistics operationsExperience in preparing shipping documents and EDIExperience in directing, as well as, evaluating subordinatesComputer savvy with good understanding of reporting and budgetingOutstanding communication and organizational skillsAttention to detail and amazing problem-solving skillsOther Qualifications & Desired Competencies

$78,986 - $112,035AeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
ITAR Requirement:
This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”). In order to comply with the requirements of the ITAR and/or the EAR, applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under the ITAR and the EAR, or a person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction. Please understand that any job offer that requires approval of an export license will be conditional on AeroVironment’s determination that it will be able to obtain an export license in a time frame consistent with AeroVironment’s business requirements.
