Following the acquisition of Arizona Mining, South32 is the new owner of the Hermosa Project, a high-grade zinc, lead and silver development option in Arizona.

The Role

As the leader of the Site Services team, your role will be to manage the overall site infrastructure performance in regard to operational activities and support work associated with exploration and environmental activities. The role will be responsible for management of relevant project and operational contracts, Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) operations and site water balance infrastructure. Other site infrastructure will include surface facilities that support surface and underground operations. The role will support strategic and budgetary business plans pertaining to the project phase and long-term operations of site infrastructure. The role will be accountable for budgetary spend and effective cost control within their area of responsibility. This role is based at the Hermosa Site (Patagonia, AZ). 

 

Accountabilities

Ensure Hermosa Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Standards are followed, and to continuously promote awareness within the site services operations and respective contractor groups. This role requires consistent direction and reinforcement of the Hermosa accountability and responsibility culture across teams and contractors. Conduct regular and consistent HSE interactions to foster a positive culture where team members are empowered to continuously improve their working environment. Minimize waste through all processes and resources to support the Hermosa operating principles. Understand how contract management and inventory management affect operational costs, and adjust processes, systems, and behaviours where appropriate. Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s),and hold team members and contractors accountable to them. Participate in development of business deliverables and drive completion of Site Services KPIs. Maintain established progression plans and support teams development ensuring competency with the team. Align operating environment to Hermosa’s operating principles, establishing a culture of excellence in all areas. Consistent leadership by example such as taking pride and ownership of Facilities and Equipment ensuring exceptional performance to optimal outcomes and maintaining the highest levels of housekeeping. Cultivate an environment that encourages respectful challenging, discussion and participation between all levels of the organization. Tailor approach to motivate team and meet team where they are at for development. Coordinate with operational readiness and construction teams to ensure that first fills and critical spares are ready to support all Infrastructure assets at the sites. Participate in operational readiness commissioning. Participate in technical evaluations on equipment selection and ensure inventory management needs are considered. Lead the team/individuals through change by understanding the principles and impact of that change, and act accordingly.   Develop relationships throughout the broader regional professional groups to build knowledge for the benefit of the project and operation. Work closely with Construction, Maintenance, Commissioning and Operations teams for a seamless transition from construction to ramp up and full production. Make sure that all contractors are compliant with the Contractor Management System. Ensure that all meetings, correspondence, instructions etc. are properly recorded and distributed and archived as required. Provide leadership in HSEC and operations by anticipating current and future state risks. Manage all compliance related activities by setting and monitoring objectives to ensure standards are met. Ensure that data and documents are properly managed throughout the project lifecycle and that the most updated and complete version is stored in an accessible and secure infrastructure. Complete all required metrics and reports in the agreed timelines. Follow all site Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental requirements and standards Must be knowledgeable in water/wastewater treatment operations, process engineering, water quality assurance, maintenance strategy and laboratory procedures. Complete all preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on waste water equipment to include: treatment evaluation, pumps, valves, piping, electrical, mechanical, and any other equipment with contract scope at facility Update the maintenance management system SAP Oversee laboratory and personal and sample lab requirements.

 

Qualifications, Skills, and Experiences

7 or more years in related roles, including 5 or more years in operations management within mining and civil environments Technical knowledge of water treatment, mechanical, electrical, and piping systems; safety and environmental standards; SAP proficiency Proven experience managing diverse teams, fostering collaboration and driving performance Project experience in Greenfields, inventory management and contractor oversight Safety-focused, environmentally conscious, effective communicator, entrepreneurial mindset, and community-oriented Relevant Arizona regulatory licenses and advanced knowledge of HSE systems
