Job Description
The Manager, Social Media is a member of the Channel Platforms & Content Optimizationteam within AbbVie’s US Commercial Digital Lab and supports delivery of social media projects across US Commercial brands.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Social Media, the Manager has responsibility for Consumer and HCP brand team social initiatives including platform strategy, new channel launches, best practices, agency support and organic publishing capabilities. This role coordinates across cross-functional teams, technology teams and agency partners to align and execute on projects. The team fulfills the role of social subject matter expert and internal point of contact to operationalize projects, collate best practices and align strategy and objectives to the patient journey.
This role will be a working member of AbbVie’s Digital Lab, driving capability enablement to fulfill and execute on social media strategies as part of the omni-channel plan. The Manager will support management of the enterprise platform and processes to execute organic and coordinate paid implementation with other channel specialists.
In addition to the above-mentioned responsibilities, the Manager will support and oversee iterative creative work to social media channel and content submissions and the Material Review Process, requiring knowledge of design best practices and design software.
This role will support the strategic pull through to ensure social media initiatives are driving exceptional results, with training and support to end users with focus on executing significantly reduced end to end project delivery timeframes from profile creation and content velocity to campaign completion and analysis. Also included is ownership for delivery and activation of more efficient processes including enterprise social templates, platform management and publishing tools, playbooks and best practice collation.
This role will provide capability leadership and strategic support for consumer and HCP social media initiatives, including:
Social platform product strategy and direction – working closely with omni channel strategists and brand teams to identify social media priorities across franchise teamsDigital subject matter expertise and development of best-in-class operating model for fast, efficient project velocity from start to finish for social media initiativesSocial Media platform support of Khoros for organic post publishing and analytics – including identifying efficiencies and improvement in the social media organic content development and launch process“Hands on keyboard” social channel expertise – deep functional understanding of platform ecosystems, organic and paid content and analytics. Channels include but are not limited to Facebook/Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, and X.Support delivery of content on The Hub and communication to teams on platform updates and changes so teams stay informed and can manage their content effectivelyDeliver common frameworks and best in class solutions that are enterprise approved and usable across teams that drive faster adoption, faster project timelinesSupport forward looking visioning as to key capabilities needed within brand teams to drive forward key goals relative to brand imperativesMay be responsible for direct reports as business continues to expand who deliver social media initiativesMajor Responsibilities:
Serve as a social media subject matter expert within the AbbVie Digital Lab.Define and support how social media intersects and supports the patient journey, including platform, content and cadence/reengagement strategy. Develop and maintain long-term product directionDefine the AbbVie and brand-level implications of new social platforms, content formats and solutions and product updates to internal and external stakeholdersSupport internal and agency access to platform back-end (e.g., Facebook Business Manager)Champion social media compliance and channel safety by partnering with internal teams on channel management, monitoring and moderation and crisis preparationAbility to hire, coach, and develop team members overseeing iterative social media creative work and the Material Review ProcessExpertly create social media content and channel submissions using design best practicesServe as the project originator for the Material Review Process and develop enterprise Material Review Process (eMRP) standards, templates, and guidelines for all brandsEnable new processes that create efficiency and agility and guide marketers and agencies in new ways of workingBe an end user advocate – understands mental models and what motivates actions of users in social and in digital touchpoints. Ability to accurately convey his or her vision through creative mediumsCollaborate effectively in a matrixed environment with Brand Marketing, Creative/CRM/Digital agencies, Media, Market Research, Analytics, Business Technology Solutions (BTS), Sales Operations, and Medical/Regulatory/Legal integrated business partners.Partner closely with Medical/Regulatory/Legal/Privacy partners to educate, lead and help AbbVie anticipate and balance organizational needs. Troubleshoot roadblocks and identify creative and compliant solutions to facilitate forward motion of new initiatives.Support governance of social media standards, collaborating with cross-functional teams to update guidelines regularly.Qualifications
Education: Bachelors preferredRequires a minimum of 6-8 years of progressively increasing responsibility in social media strategy, design, digital customer experience or equivalent role managing large, complex digital ecosystems and multi-channel campaignsProficient in using graphic design tools, media, and/or technologies to create and iterate from a single concept or asset Experience collaborating with teams to gather feedback and manage design projects that involve multiple iterations and refinementsUnderstanding of social algorithms, audience targeting, ad formats and privacy considerations with proven ability to implement social media best practicesIn-depth knowledge of the product development and evaluation process. Exposure to Agile development a must.In depth knowledge and experience with platform management tools such as KhorosExperience with work planning management solutions including: Smartsheet, Workfront and other similar toolsKnowledge of platform analytics tools and data signals that support brand goalsOutstanding communicator and comfortable interacting with a diverse group of technical and non-technical peopleResults-oriented, self-starter with passion for user experience, technology and digital transformationA strategic mindset that allows you to prioritize projects, launches, and features, and balance immediate requirements with a long-term visionExperience in pharmaceuticals or another highly-regulated industry preferred, but may not be required for a candidate with an exceptional track record of success in planning & implementing multichannel programs that can apply to AbbVie
