Job Description
The Washington Post is hiring a Software Development Manager to lead our Web Engine team. This team is responsible for building and maintaining the platform on which we build our site. The team is responsible for the rendering engine, as well as design system and client side framework. As manager of this team, you will work closely with our front end implementation teams and our content platform team to deliver robust functionality and stability. This role requires a manager that can bridge the gap between our platform and feature implementation teams.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, equivalent field, or equivalent experience.8 years +of experience working as a software engineerExperience working with front-end technologies HTML, CSS, and Javascript.Proficiency with web frameworks such as Next, Astro and others.Experience working with front end framework React.Strong experience in command line (Unix & Linux) navigation and revision tracking (Git)Experience with DevOps technologies such as Docker and Jenkins.Experience working with designers and design frameworks.Varied experience with databases, MongoDB and MySQL preferred.Experience writing unit and integration tests to ensure code quality.Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills for technical and business audiences.Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is:
144,600.00 - 241,100.00 USD AnnualThe actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements. This position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program, and a member of the Talent Acquisition team will discuss bonus payment terms and conditions during the interview process.
