Job Summary
The Manager of Spiritual Care is responsible for managing spiritual care services in an assigned market area. The Manager provides, oversees, and ensures the provision of spiritual care to patient/residents, their family and friends, and team members. The Manager administers the chosen goals and programs set by the Director of Spiritual Care. The Manager oversees and ensures provision of education and training as appropriate for the institution. The Manager communicates and provides liaison with the religious community. The Manager participates in the institution's management structure. The Manager of Spiritual Care reports to the regional Director of Spiritual Care with matrix reporting to a local administrative leader, the hospital CNO.
Essential Functions
+ Ensure the delivery of Spiritual care to patients/residents, their family/friends, and team members regardless of their religious or spiritual background or affiliation.Actively participate in the delivery of Spiritual care by visiting patients, families and team members.Ensure that all requests for Spiritual care are responded to in a timely manner.Ensure that appropriate worship opportunities are provided as applicable.Facilitate that ritual and sacramental needs are met.
+ Supervise and facilitate the work of chaplains and CPE residents/interns (if applicable) located at various sites.Coach and conduct yearly performance reviews as appropriate.Monitor days away and ensure adequate staffing.Participate as appropriate in hiring and disciplinary processes.
+ Coordinate clergy, Spiritual Care visitors, and volunteers from the religious community.Orient personnel to policies and procedures that affect their visiting.Provide resources including patient lists according to Corewell Health policy.
+ Support an interdisciplinary approach to Spiritual care.Provide liaison to other departments such as social work, volunteers, etc.Provide orientation to Spiritual care to other departments as invited.Serve on Corewell Health (CH) committees as requested by Director of Spiritual Care and local administrative leader.
+ Oversee the use and maintenance of the Spiritual care offices and associated sacred spaces, e.g. chapel, prayer room, spiritual care center, etc.Provide proper office supplies, ritual items and religious literature.Provide for the maintenance of office equipment.Oversee the scheduling of the chapel.
+ Develop and maintain proper administration procedures for the department in accordance with Corewell Health policy.Develop and maintain procedures to keep records of Spiritual activity to communicate with other members of the department and report to department/institution.Administer the department’s plan for continuous quality improvement.
+ Participate in teaching/lecturing as invited.Participate in research relevant to the field as applicable.
+ Participate in programs and administrative activities of the institution.Participate/Lead in regular staff meetings.Participate in regular professional development activities and supervision.Participate in periodic planning meetings for managers.
Qualifications
Required
+ Master's Degree or equivalent A master’s level theological degree or equivalent in Theology, Divinity, Psychology or other related or relevant area, ordination or commissioning and endorsement for ministry/chaplaincy by a recognized religious group, and Board Certification or/Board eligible certification being completed in 2 years.
+ Vocational/Technical Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Minimum of 4 units of CPE or equivalent clinical training
+ 5 years of relevant experience with at least two years as a manager
+ CRT-Chaplain Board Certification - Association of Profession Chaplains Association of Profession Chaplains Upon Hire required Or
+ CRT-Chaplain Board Certification - Association of Profession Chaplains Association of Profession Chaplains Eligible for Board Certification upon hire 2 Yrs or
+ CRT-Chaplain Board Certification - National Association of Catholic Chaplains National Association of Catholic Chaplains Upon Hired or
