Manager, Statutory Reporting

Reporting to the Director, Statutory Controller, this role is primarily responsible for delivery of quarterly/annual statement regulatory reporting for AIG’s US-domiciled P&C insurance companies.  Specifically, the Manager, Statutory Reporting is primarily responsible for supervising the preparation and executing review of all required insurance technical reporting submissions within these filings, including underwriting exhibits with detail of activity by line of business, location of risk, etc.  Additionally, the Manager will lead coordination across disciplines within Finance to ensure timely and accurate delivery of schedules and exhibits related to reinsurance, loss reserves, investments, etc. 

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the supervision and review of a team of onshore and offshore resources through the production of all required exhibits and schedules contained within the quarterly/annual statements of 18 US-domiciled P&C insurance companies; this will include reporting produced by the Manager’s own team as well as specialists across disciplinesSupport production and review of other required filings across all companies and all state insurance departmentsEnsure timely and effective execution of all relevant internal controls supporting the statutory financials, including data governance, transactional controls, key reconciliations and analytical reviewsSupport the Statutory Controllership throughout the quarterly financial close process, through collaboration with internal stakeholdersSupport ongoing strategic development and execution/validation of finance transformation projects; fully leverage capabilities of new Finance architecture to drive expected improvement in timeliness of reporting and depth of analytical insightsDevelop responses to inquiries from state insurance departments, ratings agencies, and analyst inquiries regarding reported results with input from various internal stakeholdersIdentify, recommend and implement process improvements with a particular focus on enhancing the use of technology and development of automated solutions to drive efficiency in the quarterly closeFoster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability to self and team

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA a plus5+ years of relevant professional experience, particularly leading teams in a controllership or financial reporting capacity for a P&C insurance companyStatuatory experience as well as insurance industry experience required.Strong technical accounting experience with P&C insurance companies, with an ability to connect business and accounting outcomes through reported financial resultsPossessing a well-balanced approach to hands-on support and detailed review of team-produced reporting, with a big picture view of the insurance companies’ results to ensure accuracy of regulatory filingsSystems-technical acumen, able to quickly grasp management reporting structures, understand a newly transformed finance architecture and financial reporting platform, and determine how to extract maximum value in execution of financial reporting requirementsStrong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals across Finance and operational disciplines towards a common purposeExperience leading teams in a dynamic, transformational environment, where change is embraced and viewed as an opportunity to drive process improvementProven people manager with strong ability to develop teams in both on and offshore locations10% travel required
