The Student Disability Services Manager role oversees day to day interactions of the SDS team and oversees their delivery of disability services for students. The Manager role works closely with the Executive Director and SDS team to ensure an exemplary level of service and interacts with campus partners to help ensure adherence to all University policies. The SDS Manger requires institutional knowledge regarding policy, roles and responsibilities, and processes, as well as critical thinking, and communication skills.

What You Will Do:
Help evaluate and monitor disability compliance with ADA/ADAAA/Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and applicable Special Education laws and regulations as it relates to individuals with disabilities.Work with the SDS team on coordinating all aspects of setting up accommodations for starts of the traditional campus as well as online starts that occur throughout the year.Research disabled student grievances related to enrollment, withdrawals, tuition reimbursement, final grades, classroom misconduct, classroom policies, instructor issues and plagiarism charges.Intervene both proactively and reactively to assist student or staff member with any aspect of the accommodation process through the interactive process. Negotiate alternative resolutions to unusual situations related to disability issues. Serves as the first level of escalation for Student Disability Services issues.Strong writing skills and ability to have clear and concise communication with students, staff and management.Compile and keep office performance metrics for holding staff accountable.Work with vendors for ASL, CART and other 3rd party providers to ensure accommodations.What You Will Have:
MS Office Suite proficiencyCRM, Symplicity, Accommodation Manager, and the University’s Learning Management SystemKnowledge of federal and state regulations regarding disability accommodations, with specific understanding of accommodations in higher education.Ability to independently research needed data and complete requirements.Must be able to always maintain professional composure and demeanor and especially while dealing with difficult situations and people.Ability to defuse difficult situations and disputes.Oversees SDS Administrators, SDS Testing Coordinator, and SDS Clerks (Student Workers).Master’s degree required.A minimum of 2-3 years’ work experience in a role which involves handling of complex customer service issues. Prefer experience in higher education and previous handling of accommodations for disabled individuals.2 - 3 years of supervisory experience preferred.Occasional weekends, evening or holiday work may occur.Why work at GCU:
