Manager, Sustaining Engineering (Controls)

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the continued development and operation of the UO Sustaining Engineering Department. Manage the activities of the Sustaining Engineers and provide direction for the Engineering Support to the UO Tech Services Department. Interact with the UO Ride/Show Maintenance Department and the UO Controls Engineering Department to ensure that technical support and training requirements are met in order to improve the reliability and operation of ride and show control systems. Provide immediate support to any UO emergency. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: + Coordinate departmental activities with other Tech Services departments. + Manage the assignments and performance of the Sustaining Engineering Staff. + Establish departmental and Divisional sustaining Engineering needs and overall strategic plans. + Provide system design and modification services. + Provide system troubleshooting and analysis services. + Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities. + Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION: + Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school., required. + Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred. EXPERIENCE: + Experience with the following is required: Allen-Bradley PLC based control systems, AC and DC motors and motor control systems, motion control systems, show and animation control systems, Proficiency with personal computers using Win95, word processing and spreadsheets, Proficiency with complex diagnostic test equipment, proficiency in control systems drawings and technical documents. + Cognizance in ASTM regulations applying to theme parks, and the NEC are also required. + 10+ Years: Experience in an Engineering environment focuses primarily on control and automation systems, preferably in a theme park environment; interacting with other Engineering and Maintenance Department disciplines; performing project management functions especially in the area of technical compliance, scheduling and budgeting; performing technical support functions in regards to control systems, motor and motion control systems. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: + Certification of Training on Allen-Bradley PLC Systems is preferred. + Certification of Training on Motor Control and Drive Systems is preferred. + Certification of Training on Motion Control Systems is preferred.
