The Charles Schwab’s Core Technology Solutions organization is looking for an experienced and motivated Application Production Support Engineer to be part of a team comprised of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) supporting a large portfolio of systems and applications in the Treasury, Securities Lending, and Risk Technology space. Your responsibilities will include working with a blended development team of on-shore and off-shore SMEs, systems administrators, DBAs, and business analysts to perform troubleshooting and resolution efforts of incidents impacting production systems.
What you will do:
Support Financial Services applications as an SME in the Service Availability and Engineering team.Solve problems and provide support, taking responsibility to make decisions when appropriateLeverage ITIL principles to bring scale and efficiency to the organizationExpand alerting and monitoring to improve operational resiliency and availabilityEmploy monitoring to improve Mean Time To Detect (MTTD) and Mean Time To Resolve (MTTR) metrics as part of analyzing trends and making recommendations for continuous improvementDrive Incident Management calls, providing clear, concise, and timely communication to Application and Business stakeholders during the triage, troubleshooting, investigation, and resolution of individual or system-wide outagesDocument and maintain resolutions in the Schwab Knowledge Base Article SystemDevelop/Improve Production Readiness processes to ensure the team is ready to support features deployed to productionCoordinate application maintenance activities, such has OS upgrades, Disaster Recovery exercises, Vulnerability Remediations, certificate renewals, password rotations, etc .Maintain and promote environment objects such as certificates, password rotations, currency patching in alignment with best practices, security standards, and guidelinesResponsible for ensuring the Change Implementation Management policies are adhered to for all changes deployed to ProductionProvide off hours release / deployment and on-call support of service recovery events on a rotational basis.What you have
Required Qualifications:
Degree in Computer Science or Engineering5+ years Application Production Support/Operations or similar experienceWorking knowledge of automated deployment processes and tools such as Bitbucket/Bamboo and/or Git1-2 years of Schwab technology domain experience as a current or recent contractor or employeeExposure to Cloud/SaaS applicationsSQL/Databases (SQL Server)OS: Windows, LinuxControl-M or similar enterprise automation technologySplunkITIL Processes including Change, Incident, Problem Management, & Root Cause AnalysisRemedy, JIRA, ConfluenceSuperior oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and conciselyStrong ownership mentalityKeen focus on metrics and trend analysisSelf-motivated with a strong ability to identify and prioritize multiple issuesA sense of urgency and confidence putting the customer first to resolve incidentsAccustomed to working in stressful environmentsAbility to forge strong relationships and coordinate effectively with multiple parties during outages and actively communicate updates to Application Development and Business partnersDetail oriented and organized with strong analytical skillsTeam player with strong collaborative qualities and a positive demeanor
